If you have to ask why it's demoralizing, then you won't understand.
How we can have citizens of our country, let alone ones in our very own military, that disrespects their own home is horrible.
I seriously suggest if you truly believe that you hate this country enough to please move to another country of your choice.

I experienced this pretty often in the Navy. There are plenty of people who don't wear the DTOM flag either because they believe it's racist. I'm still blown away that the Navy has not made the patches mandatory. The uniform looks like shite without them.

Yes, they are in it for the free education and pension.
College money was a big reason why I joined the army and I never really gave a shite why the guy next to me joined as long as he did his job and upheld the standards. I don't care how patriotic your intentions are when I have to ruck half your shite or cover your guard shift because you slept in.
And it's not lost on me that many of the same people that are critical of others motivations or don't think their reasons for joining were pure enough... didn't join at all. For any reason.
Again, not referring to this particular sailor, just the sentiment in general.

I view it as highly demoralizing.. Because I feel that the end result will not be good.

IMHO it's going to come down to one simple fact. That is either our flag or it's not. But that means a different thread.
