I was there getting my iPhone fixed. Craziest shite I have ever seen. Enough to never go into another large crowed place again. Everyone in the Apple store yelled "gun shots" (actually sounded like gun shots) and we all hit the back door in a full sprint. Very scary.

eta: My first time experiencing that kind of scare. Never want to experience that again.

eta: Respect to Michael Kors my wife was in the food court with the kids, ran into MK and they locked everyone in until law enforcement escorted them out. The staff had been trained to deal with active shooting situations.

Apparently that didn’t even happen

quote:

I was at the mall when the commotion went down and I saw it all happen, I wanted to clear up some rumors because the first thing people did afterwards was get on their phone and say that there was a shooting and I've even looked at all the snapchat posts saying it was a shooting. I had just got done watching a movie with my family at around 3PM and about 15 minutes later we went down to the food court to get something to eat. We were sitting right in front of the Potato Corner waiting for our food to come out and as we were talking I heard a man screaming about 5 or 6 tables down to the left but it wasn't loud compared to the commotion of the mall and no one paid him any mind. He then stood up on a table and that's when I looked over. He was a white male wearing a red hoodie, but I don't remember seeing a mask on him. He then shouted, "Everyone, I'm going to kill myself!" about five times. Then he took something that was in his hand and dropped it on the ground. From my angle it looked like he had dropped packets of soy sauce or something. It was small and brown whatever it was. At that moment everyone in the food court jumped up and took off running in all directions. I stood up and watched as everyone ran and left their food, merchandise, and even a few empty strollers around the food court. Whoever the guy was he disappeared when everyone started running. I know everyone is saying he threw some fire crackers but whatever he dropped on the ground didn't explode, pop, or make any sounds or smoke. Seconds later a few security officers ran in, followed behind a HCSO deputy and a plainclothes officer. They ran to whatever he dropped and picked it up, but I wasn't able to see it with all of the people running and screaming. I stood there because I didn't hear any gun fire and if there was an issue, I couldn't identify where it was coming from. About a minute later 5 officers or so ran in one after another with AR-15's and shotguns and they ran towards the door passed the carousel and one of them turned around and told everyone to get down. They looked around for a few minutes and didn't find anything. Even 15-20 minutes after the police cleared the food court people were still full sprint running in all directions. Afterwards I got up with my family and we left. I was pretty surprised at how fast people jumped up and started stampeding and I probably would have ran too if there was signs of evident danger, but the most dangerous thing I saw was people running. I'm glad that in the end no one got seriously hurt and there wasn't an active shooter, but people need to think before they do stupid pranks like this because all I saw were terrified children, and people desperately looking for lost family members. But anyway, I just had to make a post to clear up some confusion and hopefully ease some minds. Feel free to share your stories if you were there or ask any questions.

So...this sounds like someone yelling ‘fire’ in a crowded movie theater.

Maybe so but in that moment it was going down it felt quite real. Scary and horrifying like a real live hell.

Eta: I have a new respect for people who go through something much worse than how this turned out.
