being gay isn't the insult now that it was then. we used it as a slur and a major insult and called all kinds of stuff gay. Come to find out one of the guys in our group who seemed to hate gays the most, was gay.
I'm older now and don't see the big deal. They like the same sex, I like the different sex. I can still think gay sex is gross, but I don't think gay people are.

Gaston knows what's up. Have a gay hype man to help entice all the ladies so you don't have to do any work, then he'll also give you a blowie when you're going through a dry spell.
All the cool guys are doing it. Aaron Rodgers had a gay "roommate" before Olivia Munn came around.

Consider this: I knew parents growing up who wouldn't let their kids watch Family Matters because it was a "black" show. As you might expect, the kids of those parents think very lowly of their parents in this sense, even if they have overall good relationships with their parents. That's because not letting your kids watch a show because you're a racist is insanely stupid.
What will today's kids think of their parents who didn't let them watch Beauty and the Beast on account of the parents being homophobic?

Like I said in the other thread:
Let me get this straight, you're OK with teaching your kids the themes of:
An entire movie about a woman who falls in love with an animal who imprisoned her.
The thought that a nice woman should give an abusive psycho plenty of chances because he might be a good guy inside.
It's ok to be an a-hole abusive to women as long as you apologize because of your past later.
No men should ever take no for an answer.
A man who basically tries to rape Bell repeatedly, despite her protests, and her dad just kind of goes with it.
A man who then tries to kill the other guy she likes just to be an a-hole.
But the thought that this creepy looking little affeminate dude who worships another dude might want to kiss him is just too much for you to handle?
You people are hilarious.
I always assumed LeFou was gay. I thought the clock guy was gay too.

Lets say 2% of the population is gay.
1.7% is "out" so I think that is a very conservative estimate.
That means there are 6,400,000 gay people in the US, yet Lunatik has only met a handful.
The real number is probably more than double that as well.
And if he has traveled abroad, there are 142,00,000 on Earth at least. Crazy odds to only have met 3.

I wasn't considering people all of the people that I've encountered in my lifetime. I was really talking about people that I've actually either been introduced to or had a decent conversation with. Also, don't think I said three. I believe I said about a handful.
If you're considering people you cross paths with in a store or at restaurant as "meeting", then obviously that number would be much, much higher.

Here's a pic of the adult version of Lefou and Gaston:

I really don't have a problem with anyone being gay and always told my daughter that if she was gay that I would be ok with it. I just don't see the need for it to be forced on me at every turn.
So if your kid is actually gay, then wouldn't all these movies with straight couples really just be forcing heterosexual views on them?

quote:Further on this good point:
That poster that thinks that is unknowingly seeking it out then lashing out about it, which probably speaks to the notion that those who are most outspoken about it or usually doing so to hide their own insecurities about it.
I remember one house we lived in growing up where my room was next to my parents', and my dad's snoring kept me up at night because I was such a light sleeper. My sister and I switched rooms, putting me farther from my parents, and I still heard the snoring because I was looking for it. I'd developed such a negative fixation on the sound that I'd become too hyper-vigilant to not notice it.
Same with people with the whole gay thing. If it's not your thing and you don't want to feel bombarded by it, it's incumbent on you to deal with it. It isn't the rest of the world's job to stop talking about something because it bugs you.

Fair point. But, I think the point was that it seems that almost every tv show/movie and a lot of commercials feel the need to add in a gay character. I just don't feel as if when I walk out of my door that I'm going to encounter a gay person every time while I'm positive that I will be encountering heterosexual people. So, I don't think it would be forcing heterosexual its on them when it's an accurate representation.

I don't feel that I will encounter a super genius dimensional shifting alcoholic scientist everything's I walk out my door, but that doesnt stop me from watching Rick and Morty

It's just not true. I have seen every, and I mean every Disney animated movie (2 young kids here). In all those movies there have only been 10 seconds showing a gay couple, and that was in Finding Dory. And honestly if you are not an adult you can't even tell it was a gay couple.
So if you want to be factually correct, Disney has been forcing heterosexual views down our throats for decades.

Are you that much of a homophobe that you're too scared to take your kids to beauty & the beast?
How pathetic

Exactly. But, you are choosing to watch show to see those characters. For example, I didn't see the need to change Penguins character to make him gay on Gotham. Again, I don't have a problem with him or anyone else being gay, just think it's over done. That's all.

Man Fu Disney! Pretending like gay people are real and deserve to be recognized as actual human who exist in real life. Alabama taking the lead on this one boys, already banning teh ghey from it's theaters. 50 shades and all the other violent murders are cool, but man singing to man? Ring the alarm! Bunch of snowflakes
