Because of a family connection, my kid and I got to be part of the pre-opening preview group for the Galactic Starcruiser. We’re big Star Wars fans, but it was a huge disappointment. It’s set up so you can’t leave the hotel except for an “excursion” to Galaxy’s Edge one morning. The rest of the time there just wasn’t all that much to do, and what they had wasn’t really that engaging. Food was kinda cool though. All the blue milk you can drink.

It was worth at most maybe a couple thousand if you’re a mega Star Wars fan. Had I paid the $5k they were charging, I would have been very bitter about it.

Because it was too expensive. I understand it was an experience, but it cost too much

It was dumb from the beginning, but what other disasters do you refer to? All I ever see is how much money they are making. The worst thing I can think of is Disney+ losing subscribers but that’s on par with the rest of the streaming services, so nothing surprising there.

They’re going to make up for the revenue loss by increasing park attendance with offers of free Bud Light to parents of trans kids who twerk at the drag princess breakfast.

Just keep the Star Wars theme, add a pool, and make it one of their high end $600+ per night hotels.

This seems like the logical thing. They’d have a huge market for it at half the cost just to stay a few nights but not do the whole interactive show thing. I haven’t seen where it’s at so I’m not logistically they can open up as a hotel to come and go as you please if it’s actually in the park.

They would have to spend a lot of money to upgrade the exterior and the site. The hotel looks like a bunker from the front, and the other three sides are just industrial looking. No windows, no facade, just exposed pipes, etc. The hotel itself is pretty small, and the view is of the back side of Galaxy’s Edge. The idea was that once you checked in you would not see outside during your stay (except for a little self contained outdoor area).

So, they would rather close it than make it reasonably priced?

I guess that's Disney for you.

Pixar can't put out an original script movie without it bombing. Huge box office bombs within the Marvel IP. Stupid fight with DeSantis over a bill that they have nothing to do with costing them millions in tax breaks. Having to fire a CEO after only being on the job for 2 years. Disney+, ABC, ESPN being absolute money pits with no growth to speak of. Peter Pan and Wendy at an 11% audience score on Rotton Tomatoes I could go on and on.

I think the concept is cool but that pricing is not reasonable whatsoever

Could probably turn it into a “deluxe hotel” and get people to stay there at a more reasonable price)

Not being able to leave during the experience is weird to me.
