The Disney Channel had its first openly character say the words “I’m gay” during a recent episode of of the hit show “Andi Mack.”
Joshua Rush plays the character of Cyrus, the first openly gay character on the network. Cyrus told two of his friends, Buffy and Andi, about his sexuality in a previous episode but said the words for the first time during Friday’s episode.
The scene takes place during Cyrus’s grandmother’s shiva, the ritual Jewish mourning period following someone’s death.
Cyrus was showing his best guy friend, Jonah, the traditional food available at the buffet table.
“That, of course, is Aunt Ruthie’s kugel,” Cyrus said. “That’s your classic bagel and lox. That’s gefilte fish, skip that.”
“And I’m gay,” the character addded quickly.
I didn’t realize how progressive little kids were nowadays until my daughter (10) started telling me it’s ok for girls to like girls when we were watching a Netflix game show that had a lesbian couple. I was a little taken aback but later on she mentioned something about transgenders which really blew my mind. I’ll love her regardless (although I’d prefer to have grandkids) but just didn’t realize 10 year olds were exposed to that.

Why the hell is Disney discussing sexuality anyway? Most kids that the channel is targeted at are too young. Why do social and political issues have to be brought up in everything now? Why can’t entertainment just be entertainment and not something else?

They’ve tangentially talked about straight sexuality for as long as they’ve been making movies. Princesses wanting the prince, getting kissed, etc. This time it’s just a boy saying he likes it up his arse.

The same people who are appalled over this are picking out their matching family T-Shirts for their semi annual trip to WDW right now.

Why do they have shove the gay and interracial shite down kids throats? Its TV entertainment not counter culture mental programming.

Yeah my 9 yr old mentioned something about boys looking like girls and I told him “yeah they’re freaks, but still be nice and not mean.”
