Girls wanted her in her princes dress but she looks like she’s on safari.

Boys wanted a funny story with lots of characters but there’s no storyline and much of the ride is missing any characters at all.

Adults wanted something meaningful that felt like the change was worth it and got a cheap, bland experience that only reminds them that it’s only pandering.

Splash Mountain was such a great ride- probably my 2nd favorite at Disney. It was just beautifully detailed from the terrain to how the music and colors gradually become darker until the final drop. It took me years to realize most of it takes place in a show building behind the "mountain"... it's near impossible to tell on the ride

There was no way a new version could ever top it, but it looks worse than expected. This move is going to end up more despised than Rocket Rods at Disneyland

Correct, so they probably shouldnt be creating rides for characters that dont exist.
Huh? Disney was well known for their original rides and characters… those lead to their own movies. Pirates of the Caribbean anyone? The Haunted Mansion. The Jungle Cruise. Figment.

Why would a grown adult GAF about this?

The same goes for haunted mansion and pirates.

Nostalgia. Enjoying a ride with your children that you loved as a child hits a little different.

Disneyland was built to showcase characters that already existed. Priates of the Caribbean is probably the one example, but that was a general term before the movies.

This is according to Disney's own docuseries they put out on the history channel.

False. The rides didn’t have many proven character associations. Characters were dressed around the park. Worlds Fair brought its a small world over for example. Only a few early rides were based on movies. Mr toads wild ride.. Peter Pan. But haunted mansion, jungle cruise, pirates, space mountain, thunder mountain, Matterhorn… no movie connections.

frick Disney. I miss the Song of The South theme. Zip-a-dee-doo-dah zip-a-dee-a My oh my, what a wonderful day Plenty of sunshine headed my way Zip-a-dee-doo-dah zip-a-dee-a

People should start singing that at the top of their lungs as soon as they get on the ride and don’t stop until it’s over. That will infuriate Disney and the SJWs who want to erase Song of the South.

This was such a huge swing and miss by Disney. This screamed to be rethemed to Moana. The build up to the big drop should have been the escape from Lalotai and Tamatoa's lair.

Perhaps the most prominent critique of “Tiana’s Bayou Adventure” thus far is that the story is incoherent. In watching the POV, you would be forgiven for thinking you missed an important plot element or piece of dialogue.

you did. they put 2 hours worth of the story in the line leading up to the ride so you have something to do while you are waiting forever

Will always be Splash Mountain to me

same.

but lets be honest the new ride would've got flooded with downvotes no matter what the video showed

There are plenty of characters in those rides with storylines too. You acted like Disney has never and should never do that. It’s plain false.

None of them were centered around a single character before that character was already proven.

They were just rides with characters. Big difference.

Splash mountain had a coherent story throughout with suspenseful parts synced with the drops. This has neither.

it did for a while, but last time I rode it it didn't

Something you said they shouldn’t do.

Its obvious to anyone, thats not just trying to argue, that im referring to centering an entire ride on a character ( her name is in the title ). Thats a lot different then putting out a pirate ride with a bunch of different characters.

Biggest issue with the new ride, as Forbes points out, is the empty space inside the ride. The end is the only part that has visual adequacy. There are too many dead spaces.

We had Florida resident annual passes when my kids were little from 15-19. I rode slash mountain more times than I could count. That entire thing was full of very detailed little scenes that even though dated had a sort of charm. You’d see new very detailed things every time you rode it.

Haunted mansion was based on characters that didn’t exist. The wife with the dead husbands, madam liota. So was jungle cruise. So was expedition Everest. Pirates was more of a general story/plot where the rider was the main character. But you still had original characters.

But you are complaining about what? Peter Pan’s flight? Mr Toad’s wild ride? Winnie the Pooh? Characters with names in the title of the ride. I don’t get your point.

So many lost opportunities.
The Christmas Eve Bonfires have vines growing up them. Nonsense. At least they could have caught fire to guide Papa Noel.
Did no one go down to Jean Lafitte Park to see how the irises grow?

It looks like some high school attempt to mimic Disney World rides while knowing nothing about the need to animatronic all sorts of things
