It seems the OP escalated the situation with the fat mom and, like the fat mom, is part of the easily offended crowd.
The DoD guy sounds like the only reasonable person in this story. When somebody complained about his gun, he went and put it up because ultimately he was probably just trying to have a nice, drama free day with his family.
Fortunately the Prineville PD didn't come in there and shoot everyone for resisting arrest or whatever when they feared for their safety.

You should add a few nines to that. I get being prepared but at what point does a threat become statistically insignificant? I mean, I probably have a greater chance of dying in a plane crash than being the victim of a water park shooting. Should I pack a parachute in carry on?
I agree, the police likely overstepped. I'm more addressing the "I pack everywhere" crowd.

This is a ridiculous argument to make. Black males are involved in a huge amount of mass shootings, they're just filed under "gang shootings". Innocent people are often murdered. I noticed you used "random" as a qualifier but intent doesn't make it less heinous. Would you be comfortable if I said "Yet the majority of those killing children on the way to school are black males"?

Then you would be incredibly wrong. I checked both entrances when I left, guess what, no sign! Check the website and rules, no firearm prohibitions.
