I’ll never forget that day, as most of us won’t. On that day, first responders were heroes. In 2020 during Covid and the summer of Floyd, our first responders were enemies. Medical workers are routinely mocked for their TikTok videos. It’s a shame this has happened, and for the sake of a better country, we need to find a way to connect once again.

That said, I asked some of my students what they talked about today. Hardly any of them mentioned 9-11. Out school’s ROTC program used to a special flag ceremony followed by a moment of silence. We used to do community events with the nearest fire station. It’s all slowly died away. I’m afraid we are once again doomed to have history repeat itself.

Locally, it was overshadowed by the storm. I’m not sure of the coverage nationally.

They had it coming and should be mocked for that.

This is the case for nearly every tragedy. Time heals all wounds. Couple that with the absolute deluge of information (especially doomscrolling) that a contemporary person, particularly a young one, is exposed to, and it should honestly be expected that they aren't very somber. If anything, they see the results of our reaction to the events, and they likely think it to have fricked them over in some form or fashion.

I used to be wanna be patriotic about it then I stopped being brainwashed and become sick to realize that brown people could do that and much worse to our own people and further brainwash another generation.

Apparently MTV is doing their stupid little awards show tonight too. something like that would have been unthinkable the first few years after 9/11.

The rememberance stuff has already become very obligatory and something done out of obligation and immediately forgotten

It was probably inevitable but happened faster than I would have thought.

I mean most of your students don’t have the connection to it because they weren’t alive when it happened, that doesn’t seem crazy.

When you have a presidential candidate like Harris saying Jan 6th was the worst attack since the civil war it doesn’t surprise me many don’t realize its significance.

Only the retarded leftists actually believe Jan 6th was insurrection regardless of what they say, so this just minimizes 9-11 in the eyes of younger liberals.

9-11 events also make muslims uncomfortable and live in fear…

I teach HS students. Obviously, they weren’t alive for the event. With it having occurred so close to their generation, I’d think it would still be a topic of significance on its anniversary.

Unfortunately this is what time does to history. Things fade away and just become less important and we move on. Not that we should, but it is inevitable.

Exactly. That’s why I was disappointed that none of them really mentioned it being discussed in history class today.

When you have a political party that thinks January 6th is worse than 9/11 this is what happens

Democrats are anti American as you can ever be

Julius Caesar, Genghis Khan, Napoleon - scourges of their time (well, maybe not Caesar, but still) who are respected if not revered, simply because they had a tremendous impact on history. We are able to balance their actions and lives without the pain of the suffering they inflicted. So it will go as time keeps keeping on.

Just as a sort of example for our generation, I can't even remember the date of pearl harbor day and when it does occur it's more like a passing blurb on the news I barely register.

Our grandparents would have found such unthinkable.

With all due respect what do you all expect? Many of you seem to forget, 9/11 was now 23 years ago. An entire generation was born after 9/11 and for them it's nothing more than something they read about in their history class.

No one 30 and under was born/old enough to remember 9/11. It's the part of healing and it's a part of becoming history.

Think about Pearl Harbor like Stansberry mentioned. I'm sure for that generation it absolutely equaled 9/11 in terms of scope and shock. Their life probably stopped for every anniversary of Pearl Harbor. Yet by the time we got to the Boomers and Gen X, it's just something they studied in history class. Honestly I have trouble remember exactly what day Pearl Harbor even happened. I didn't experience Pearl Harbor so it just doesn't have the impact to me. It's going to be the same way with Gen Z and all subsequent generations with 9/11. They didn't live it, it's just something they look at from a historical perspective. 9/11 will never mean anywhere near as much to them as it meant for those of us who remember exactly where we were that day.

Jan 6th was a total farce. Yet… You still actually believe Muslims did 9/11?? So many people in our country are still so incredibly brainwashed and simply cant see the truth.

My parents were not born when Pearl Harbor, happened, and it was a big deal for them. It was also still an important part of history taught when I was in school which makes the date still important.
