Just had one done. They shaved my arm hair which I assure you is not 1 1/2".

Always take it from my arm. Had a random last week and just got an email for another random-both hair follicle. DISA just likes to generate cash flow out of my pocket. I'm random once a month.

DISA chooses the randoms. Not your employer. Unless you're in "follow-up" then you get tested more often but it is not a random. On your copy, you should see a reason for test section. That will tell you Pre-access, random, follow-up, post incident, etc. Hair testing labs (Not DISA) ask for an inch and a half head hair. This provides an average detection period of 90 days. If not long enough, then go to other body areas and then it becomes a matter of quantity. Problem with other body areas is the hair could be there for much longer than 90 days which greatly extends the detection period. Most employers will terminate you if you do the whole body shave. I think it is in the DISA global membership app where you agree not to shave everything. Good luck.

Yes to all of that. The body hair can detect use for up to a year and is really not what you want them to sample.
You have more than enough hair and they don't need much. They will just take it from a couple areas so you won't have a gap cut out.
