I watched Dirctv all through Tropical Storm Isaac a few years back.
Might be more of where you are.
I have Eatel since I moved to AP, best service I have ever had. If you are in AP, look into that

Had the same issue. They changed the tip of the receiver and have not had a single issue since.

Had the same problem. Clouds formed in the SW and the broadcast went out.

Upgrade to Genie and a new sat. dish, if you haven't done so. That improved the hell out of my DirecTv.

check your signal strength, that might be a problem, it has to pour down for mine to go out

Except for the fact that I have 50gb up and down, whole home DVR, every channel I want (except fox sports NOLA for Pels games), and in 3+ years of service, I have had exactly 2 outages.
August 2016 flood? Couldn't leave my house but I had internet.
