I've been with Direct for 3 years now and last night my signal went out. Called and it will be until Sunday to get it back up. I bitched and since I'm currently in my 3rd month of a 24 month contract they basically told me to frick off. The "retention specialist" actually told me "I don't have time to play." So I'm thinking about switching to Dish and just paying the $420 in ECF. Is it worth switching to Dish or just stay with Direct? Only other option is Comcast and not interested in that.

TIA

You shouldn't have to pay an early disconnect fee after the initial 2 years unless you did a clown move after the first 2 year contract.

Just put TV on my back porch and had to get a new box. Nothing I could do about it.

Interesting.
I had them come out and install 2 more boxes (ran two more lines on my SWM system). All they did was charge me an extra $8 or $9 per box per month. No contract signing or anything. Didn't even charge for the house call to run the two extra lines.
Saying that, stay with Directv unless you want the SEC network that Dish offers. Me personally, service and quality are much better with Directv

You may want to check on your status. I didn't sign shite and didn't find out that my contract was extended until yesterday.

I had Dish for 9 yrs. Switched to Direct, and will never go back to Dish. If you think Direct's customer service sucks, it's nothing compared to the crap I went through with Dish.

I love directv but the wait time for technicians is usually just total shite. I don't know if dish is any better though, haven't used them.

That thread is a total Dish love fest. Getting some different opinions in this one.

Of your options stay with direct tv. My wife had dish at her old place and it absolutely sucked anytime I had to deal with their customer service. I haven't had any issues with DirectTv but thinking of switching to U-Verse when my 2 years is up if DirectTv doesn't hook me up in August with free Sunday ticket

I'd go U-Verse in a heart beat if I could. One street over has it but not me.

I have Dish and like it. I wouldn't pay $420 one way or the other to switch. They aren't that different.

Although I probably would leave DTV if I had it no matter what the cost if they don't get the SECN.

The $420 isn't really holding me from switching if I'll be happier with Dish. Does the Hopper Sling thing come in handy?

Have it and really only use it for the Geaux Zone. Really doesn't provide what I want.
