So far, astronomers have found more than 500 solar systems and are discovering new ones every year. Given how many they have found in our own neighborhood of the Milky Way galaxy, scientists estimate that there may be tens of billions of solar systems in our galaxy, perhaps even as many as 100 billion.

It's hard to even quantify this quote.

The first planet is around 20 AU, which is roughly the distance from the sun to Uranus. So Mercury, Venus, Earth are all within 1 AU from the sun so this is way further out.

The closest one looks like it's about 4-5 AU which is right around Jupiter distance. Makes me wonder if the larger size of that star could allow for life on one of those closer planets.

If you peer into the deep, dark part you will find Uranus

Holy shite. Then I retract my statement about that first planet being on fire.

Well, from my physics background when you are looking at something like this....light years away..... there are typically two ways to determine distances between objects.

1. Hold your thumb up .... thumbs are about 30 light years wide.
2. Hold up the thumb of the person standing next to you....same calculation.

All well and good. But we still can't get to and from Mars or any of our other planetary neighbors. I'd say we work on that little detail before we consider venturing 129 light years further. There and back would add up to lottsa years.

That's simply amazing. I really don't know how people aren't awed by space in general.

It is pretty amazing and awe inspiring what God created.

You'd have to think that some form of life exists on one of these planets.

So this is roughly 700+ trillion miles away?

I can't wrap my brain around how we can see that far out.

The closest planet in this system is 14-15 AUs away from the star with an orbit taking around 45 Earth years. The next 3 in terms of distance and orbit duration are 24 AU / 100yrs, 38 AU / 190yrs, and 68 AU / 460yrs. It's all in the link provided in the OP. LINK

Some really fascinating stuff.
quote:

The outer planet orbits inside a dusty disk like the Solar Kuiper belt. It is one of the most massive disks known around any star within 300 light years of Earth, and there is room in the inner system for terrestrial planets. There is an additional debris disk just inside the orbit of the innermost planet.

quote:

The 4 planets are still glowing red hot due to their young age and are larger than Jupiter and over time they will cool and shrink to the size of 0.8 to 1.0 Jupiter radii.

Yep and Jesus has a lot more room to cover if he wants to convert all those heathens.

Seriously looking at the universe or at least what we can see, it really shows how insignificant the main stream religions are and completely simplified. The universe and its workings are far too complex to be translated into these primitive religions we have.

Life is about love and experiences. Not about the daily grind and the materialistic approach that dominating this world.
