Was Bishop Sullivan unpersoned for an accusation against him or for not investigating properly an accusation brought to his attention?

You baws keep it up with that whole religion thing. Weird how people closest to God love children a little too much.

Why the pomp and circumstance of the name release? Aren't these people criminals? What is being done to these people?

In this day and age, yes, being accused does mean you are a criminal for all intents and purposes

Does the phrase “credibly accused” bother anyone else when reading it? If this letter is the first step towards healing and all of the other things mentioned, that’s the best phrase they can come up with?

I know there are pedophiles of all types and whatever else you have to tell yourself, but there are a lot of them who are priest. And the Catholic church kept this information secret for a long time and spent millions upon millions of dollars on payouts to victims, paying for lawyers, etc.

Can you imagine being a kid and this person, who a lot of people look up to and think so highly of.. Decides he wants to do disturbing things to you?

Ancient Roman elites were big into pedophilia. When Emperor Constantine made Christianity the official religion, what we today call the RCC simply assumed most of the official Roman trappings.

Are you implying that these priests have been wrongfully accused?

Priests get accused of shite all the time. Just like cops get accused of bullshite.

The former STM priest was taken offline for a while to investigate claims made against him that turned out to be completely bullshite.

Not at all.
They just discovered that Saints pull more umm, rank and less lawsuits than bishops.

There were hundreds of cases nationally that were determined to be fabricated by the accuser. Either out of revenge/anger, or trying to get lawsuit $$.

When Emperor Constantine made Christianity the official religion

Constantine didn't make Christianity the official religion. He signed the Edict of Milan which allowed for the legal toleration of Christianity.

Emperor Theodosious I made Nicene Christianity the official state religion with the Edict of Thessolonica.

Nicene Christianity includes Eastern Orthodoxy, Oriental Orthodoxy, Eastern Asyrian Christianity and Catholicism.

Oddly enough, it's only Catholicism that gets tied to this, primarily by Anti-Catholic protestants.
