Dilemma with roommate

So I've been sharing my house with this roommate for about 6 months. He has been a good guy so far but unfortunately he got laid off a few weeks ago. He has been on welfare since then. He has still been coming up with rent, though, so I let him stay. Anyway, this past Saturday he comes in with a big pitbull dog named Spike. I tried to make him get rid of it but my efforts were to no avail until last night, when we had a major dispute. The dog ripped open a couch cushion and I said that's it, and either he can get rid of the dog or I'll kick him to the street. He's been a good guy, but I can't live with this dog. What say the OT?

What's the contract you signed with him say?

Adults shouldn’t have roommates esp males. Grow up and tell him to do the same.

The dog has to go, friend too if it comes down to it

Just open up the siding around your trailer and let Spike live there.

It's pretty rude to get a dog without consulting your roommate.
I'm assuming you don't have a lease with wording that pets aren't allowed.

Congrats on being an accessory to dog fighting

Tell him it's a $4,000,000 pet deposit. THerefore, you aren't actually booting him out, he's forced out on his own.

Where do you live? Is there a written lease agreement? In some states, checks for rent act as a lease agreement. You likely can't just "kick him to the curb" and are bound to your jurisdictional eviction process (proper notice and right to due process).

Do you own the place?

So dude is without a job, but manages to go get a dog.
fricking idiots. Pelosi is right - we are too stupid to take care of ourselves with government intervention.

More importantly....what does the lease or rental agreement say about pets?

Tell him to get a crate and make sure the dog stays in at all times unless supervised, or he can leave. Also, he needs to pay to replace the couch cushion.
