Who has em?

Diagnosed with hypothyroidism 4 years ago and put on Synthroid. Then something happened a couple years ago and I couldn't eat foods with high iodine content anymore because it gives me hellacious insomnia. I really miss cheese but a piece of muenster will keep me up for a day.

I've seen multiple endocrinologists, including the top guy at UAB, and they've told me that it's just something that happens for unknown reasons.

frick, I would kill for a piece of pizza.

That must suck. I have a cousin that got bit by a tick and now he can’t eat red meat without getting extremely sick. I’m sure there’s more to the story but I’m not a doctor & he’s a distant relative anyway. Human body is weird.

I can’t have anything with vitamin K which includes:

Lettuce
Cabbage
Okra
Collard greens
Turnip greens
Broccoli
Brussel sprouts
Asparagus

There’s a lot more but those are the main ones o can think of off the top of my head. Pretty much all green leafy vegetables are a no-go. I also can’t have grapefruit or anything with cranberries.

I also have to keep my salt intake below 1500 mg a day and beef no more than once a week.

The red meat allergy is called alpha-gal(actose) allergy.Thats a type of sugar found in red meat, caused by getting bitten by a tick.My neighbor took 2 trips to E.R.before it got figured out.He carried Epi-pen for awhile but he got over it after couple years.I’m not sure if everybody gets over it.
It’s a deer hunters nightmare if contracted.Kill deer and can’t eat it.

I once developed a mild allergy to garlic. It started destroying my stomach.

My solution was to start eating a ridiculous amount of garlic daily.

After about two weeks, everything went back to normal. I can now eat a few heads out of a crawfish boil and not even get gas
