I'm 40 and have gradually reduced intake of regular soft drinks over the years. Finally got to the point that they started tasting 'too sweet' so now I've been trying a Coke Zero or Diet Dr. Pepper about once/week.

Diet Coke tastes fine if it's on ice, although it's pretty rare that I'll try one.

It goes like this

Colombian coke > Mexican coke > old coke > new coke > Coke Zero > Diet Coke

In that order.

How is this getting downvoted?

Cocaine reigns supreme. Mexican coke uses cane sugar instead of corn syrup. Old coke used cane sugar. New coke is better than shite arse Coke Zero. Which in turn is better than Diet Coke.

If you disagree you’re lame af

think they're just referring to a lot of Diet Coke drinkers coincidentally being fat.

I know, alot of obese people drink it to "compensate" and make them feel like they are saving calories.

As far as the "diet soda makes you fat"

Yes, for some the artificial sweetners may make them crave more sweets. But thay is all about the person. You have to have mindset if you want to lose weight. The diet/zero drinks have a bad rep that it makes you eat more and get fat. I drink coke zeros when I want.. i work out 4 days a week, and eat a healthy diet and in good shape. For me the coke zero stops the sweet craving. If i want something sweet, i will grab one.. and enjoy without worrying about calories.

As far as health of artifcial sweetners, no comment. That is up for debate, but we all gona die of something

Both loaded with artificial sweeteners (that are processed like sugar), artificial coloring, assorted chemicals. Mmmmmmmmmmmm (insert Puke Emoji here).

As far as taste, its caffeine free diet coke FTW.

I don't drink very much of any soda.

These are similar products but they draw very different crowds. These are my observations over the years.
Diet Coke people- tend to be obese and have an extreme addiction to the product. They simply cannot go a day without it
Coke Zero people- more casual with using the product. Most people who drink Coke Zero do not Need it daily

I’m a Coke Zero person. I think I’m superior to the heathens who are suckered into addiction of Diet Coke.

I'm a sparkling water person, because I don't plan on giving myself diabetus by 45.

I agree with this statement. Also a lot of women are weird about wanting Diet Coke specifically. I believe the aspartame in Diet Coke has caused addictions in the Diet Coke drinkers, which is why they drink one or more every day

Oh it totally has. Still, the studies on aspartame have all been inconclusive if you read the primary sources and not fear-mongering internet articles. Only insanely high amounts (like 32+ bottles a day) have been definitively decided to cause harm in the way many people claim (cancer).

That doesn't mean they won't later discover something else. But so far, no dice. And as oleyeller said - We all die somehow. I'm sure my weekend alcohol consumption ain't great for me either

Now - none of these drinks are good for your teeth. That is for sure.
