Yeah, if only there were laws against this, right?
protesting for laws that ALREADY exist.
makes perfect sense

Domestic violence is horrible.
But what does that have to do with this march? There are already plenty of laws in our country to protect abused women and plenty of organizations, shelters, etc.....that exist to help battered women and their children.

Well. It seems I need to check my privilege then. Did I do that right?

My SO would have, but she had to work. I don't get it, but it doesn't bother me. I think it's great that we can have marches like that in this country without government oppression. We're lucky. They'd have shot them in some countries.
And for the ones thinking it was only poor, gay fatties, I know some IRL +7s that pull over $100k a year that went to local marches. Whatever suits your narrative, though.

in my opinion a confident empowered woman is the sexiest woman there is
I bet a bunch of lucky men got presents to open when their women got home from the march
and damn good sandwiches probably

Bring attention to what? That domestic violence exists, and it's a shitty thing? That's not a new revelation.

Bill Burr has a good take on this

Hey bro, off topic, you live in Boston right?
Is there a train straight from Albany to Boston? If so, what station would I go into that closest to Fenway?

Just because laws and shelters exist does not make everything whole.

Wow. Think about this for a sec. What if there was no need for those things?

assuming women are treated equally because it says they should be on paper is awfully ignorant
Everyone has a role in life. Just because a woman's role is different than a man doesn't mean theyre not treated fairly.

Agreed. Ok, so how does the protest further this? Tying up MORE resources that could be used for enforcement???

I'm 39. How much growing up do you suggest?
I'm sensitive. But not overly sensitive enough to march for something that I don't see fitting FOR ME.
I support a women that I love, not her politics.
Grown ups can see the difference in my previous statement.

But what are the marches against violence on women supposed to bring attention to? We are aware that a problem exists. There are laws in place and amenities for women and their children who fall victim to domestic violence. What else do you want to happen? The world is an imperfect place. People are going to do bad things to each other no matter what law we pass or how many marches happen. All we can do is try to catch the bastard reaponsible and provide aid to the vicitms.

Yeah I'm in Boston. Which, to keep things a little on topic, I saw had 125,000 plus people march.
But to answer your question, there is an Amtrak that goes from Albany to Boston. You'd go into South Station. From there, take the red line to Park St. and then the green line to Kenmore, which will let you out right next to Fenway.

funny thing is, women can openly hit men without consequence
i had a gf once, weighed about 100lbs, who would punch and kick me (happened probably 5x); it obviously never did much damage because i am a lot bigger, but there was little i could do to defend myself because:
if i push her away - she gets hurt and i go to jail
if i call the police - they take a report and laugh at me.
if the tables were turned (me punching her) - she is either dead or i am jail

If they want to make a real change, they've got to do more than just protest.
Lobbying would be a good start.
