Perfect. Thanks!

Actually, she'd get hauled to jail for domestic battery. Most states have zero toletance DV laws that don't give cops discretion in the field.

And how will a march stop this? It gonna stop a-hole men from drinking and getting high and using their SO as a punching bag?
a-hole men will continue to beat defenseless women. The awareness needs to be for women to know what to do to escape this situation safely.
How does marching the day after a president they don't like is officially in office accomplish this?

Yeah I'm in Boston. Which, to keep things a little on topic, I saw had 125,000 plus people march.
Irish men used to keep things under control...fricking Affleck and Damon....

If they want to make a real change, they've got to do more than just protest.
Lobbying would be a good start.
Lobbying for what?
The only thing I saw yesterday was women screaming about free tampons and abortions.

hmm, thats good to know, but when i was searching for a resolution to my situation i didnt find anything to support your statement
most advice was just to "run away" or "its her word against yours, good luck"

I bet a lot of organizations dealing in Women's Rights had a huge spike in donations due to the march, which presumably could go toward lobbying for whatever they are advocating for or against.
So in that sense they would have accomplished something.

that must have been before you started reading redit relationship boards

Yeah, and women marching in the streets is going to be some miraculous eye-opener for every scumbag woman beater.
Miraculous? no. But it is a dialogue and thats how shite begins to change.
That said, from what I saw in NO was about half that and half frick Trump, so it wasnt exactly pure.

Mine is working her arse off. Was up til 1:30am this morning working.
She detests Trump and her reasons are valid.

Lobbying for changes in abortion laws, et alia.
Do you really not know how laws are made and changed?

Yeah, if only there were laws against this, right? I know holding up signs saying "frick Trump" really highlights the woman beating issue.
Nice strawman, but that's not what she did. She helped operate a tent that gave information about resources women have if they're abused, as well as info on how to best report suspected abuse. One of the biggest problems with domestic abuse is that the women often are too scared to report it or they don't want to get involved if they know someone who is being abused. These events go a long way in showing them that they are safe and that they have a support system.
But none of you really care about understanding the issues being discussed. You just want to make jokes about women in an echo chamber where no one will challenge you. That's fine, carry on

Because a woman beater is going to have a dialogue about domestic violence. That like trying to convince a Nazis that killing Jews is wrong just by having a dialogue.

Not really. If it was 1958, I'd agree, but it's 2017 and everyone knows it's not acceptable.

bullshite. But you tell me how holding up some of the vulgar signs that were everywhere is helping. And kudos to 'manning' a tent for the issue. I hope her message was not lost in all of the sewage that was being spewed because 'their' candidate was not elected. B/c I think THAT is why so many were out there.

That's great, but why do people have to associate this with a president or a political party? I'm all for what your lady did, but this march was a political demonstration against a president disguised as a civil rights event.

I see both sides.
On one hand it's good to see people exercise their right to peaceful protests and stand up for themselves.
On the other hand, women turn around and stay with a-hole men and 50 Shades of Grey has sold like 150 million copies in America. So much for the outrage over violence against women and respect.

Nah Lester, I know most of those words. Trying to have a reasonable discussion here. Maybe YOU could help by explaining how holding up signs with words like "pussy", "frick", and "prick" further the discourse???
Posted on 1/22/17 at 12:08 pm to LCA131
i dont agree with their message. Millions of people marched yesterday, there will be some idiots included. The people bearing those signs have been incited by Trump. It's what he wants and what his campaign was built on. Had they taken the high road i would have came away respecting them more
