Yepp. Was in 6th grade homeroom when my teacher got the news and promptly changed the channel to actual news coverage.

Yep, started teaching in ‘95. We had it until a few years after 9/11, I think. I never knew why it was done away with.

Channel One was GOAT. First period teachers would be so triggered sometimes that they couldn’t teach so they’d turn it off and we would complain to the higher ups, others loves the first period off

Anderson Cooper was brain washing us back then too
Yep I remember those days.
When they were initially installed, they had automatic turn on and turn offs. Some times when the school would lose power the VCR that was programmed to record the feed at 2 or 3 in the morning we would be out of luck for our daily brainwashing. I can also remember when there was a controversial story for 6th graders and the feed was cut early, it may have been about abortion or sex.
Some schools also used it for morning announcements. I can remember the South Lafourche Drama club being tasked with this on a trial run, but I think it only lasted a day since they did the school news/announcements in costume.
Those were the days in the mid to late 90’s.

We also used to have a show with the football coaches breaking down the game the previous week

Yup.
It was before my time but didn't Anderson Cooper run around Sarajevo for them in the early 90s? Like a moron.

Yes, our school had it but some of the teachers would just turn it off if it come on at an inconvenient time.
