I bet you wish the current movement of leaving the leaves where they fall was popular in your day. It is actually better for all involved.

More like grass cutters (not to be confused with true landscapers who design, plant, and such).

But you bring up a good point. What changed because I sure don’t remember seeing grass cutters en masse like there are today either.

Yeah I bet there were a few landscapers. But definitely no grass cutters like today. I see a different one every day on my street alone.

I differentiate between the two because I have a landscaper friend and he calls them grass cutters lol.

Either way… what changed to have so many now? Did everyone really just do their own cutting? Simple as that?

We were surrounded by trees and had to take the leaves too, but put them into mound and just filled bags that we hauled to the curb to be picked up. In a neighborhood where we couldn’t burn them or stash them anywhere else.

Had a blast making huge piles and diving into them until the dog decided to piss on them. Little bastard

there was virtually nothing my dad would pay to have done growing up even if he had no clue how to do it

Bed sheet? No.

Old US Army canvas tarp? Yes.

But didn’t have leaves. We had pine straw. Lots and lots of pine straw. We stacked it in a gargantuan pile in the back yard a burned it.

I grew up in the country. We never raked leaves. They lay where they fell.
Us kids use to play in them in the fall and winter. I always leaves on the ground looked like fall.

Yes. And I still use a bed sheet to gather leaves, clippings, hay or whatever to this day.
