Yes, by Archie Manning's sister in the mid '80s. Good teacher and very useful class.

I took it in 1988. It did not seem useful at the time, but there were a lot of chicks who took it. Class was very useful in highsight. The success from taking a class with a lot of chicks was not as much as I had hoped.

I had a lady named Ms. Greene for typing in 7th grade. She was a mean arse old lady, lots of funny stories about her
taught me how to type though. I was up over 90wpm by the time the year was over.

Yes I took typing in high school. It really helped me for later in life. Probably more than any other one course

I did, but I was already a computer dork before then. I think I was doing more than 70wpm by the time they put mavis beacon in front of me.
I can’t remember the name of the virus, but my teacher (Arky) had me pick a computer to “test it out.” Viruses were plentiful in the local Arab disc copying markets. One dinar per disc!
We had to ship said computer to NAS Sigonella for repair. That’s what I did while everyone else was trying to learn. Good times!

Nope. I took shop like a good redneck. Almost cut a couple of fingers off (still have the gun rack I made), shocked myself so bad I’ve never picked up welding equipment to this day, and got paddled for dipping that was the worst pain of all.

Mom (rest her soul) insisted that I take it. 1983, Mrs. Oldham...one of the most useful classes I ever took.
Now is the time for all good men to come to the aid of their country. We had IBM Selectrics at our school. High cotton.

I was posting on message boards by age 11 (2001). We had a computer class in middle school where we typed and fricked around online.
My sophomore year of HS we all had school issued laptops. This was 2007. Admittedly, we were one of the first schools in the state to test it out.
It went about as well as you could expect giving kids aged 14-18 laptops when the staff didn't know how to work them. Most of the days were spent playing donkey kong, mario, etc. by way of emulator while we constantly battled with an overworked IT team. Every now and then you'd get a message pop up that would say something along the lines of "please quit playing this game".

I graduated from high school in 1997. I took a typing class using the electric typewriters. I remember learning how to type addresses on envelopes, letterhead, etc. using the markers on the typewriter itself.
We have one typewriter in the office I currently work in, and I think I'm the only person who knows how to use it. I use it a few times a week to type labels. Once in a blue moon, someone else needs to use it, and they just state at it for a couple of minutes before coming to ask me how to use it.
I have an indispensable skill. I cannot be replaced no matter how bad I frick up.

I took typing my Sophomore year in HS 1983, yes it was electric and manual typewriters. Never thought I would need it but now thankful I took it.

Yes. My mom fought it, but I ended up having to take typing with a typewriter one year, and then had to take computer the next year. The computer class ended up being another typing class. We were told if I took the typing class I wouldn't need to take the computer class the next year, but then there weren't any other electives for me to take so that was a lie. This was mid-90s, so well past the time when typewriters became irrelevant.
I basically got 2 years of typing.

11th grade.
1970.
Underwood manual. Electricity not discovered yet.
By far the most useful class I ever took in high school. Actually typed well enough to CLEP two credit hours at NLU for an Office Admin class.
Had no idea it was hardly taught anymore.
First they came after our civics class, then they came after our typing class. Now there's free tampons in the boys' bathrooms.
Our democracy is obviously under attack!
