Yes. Went where there was a job in my field. There were none in Louisiana. Would have stayed otherwise. .

Yep, have lived in Boston and NYC since graduating. I'd come back for the right opportunity but it's not something I'm actively looking for, I'd move just about anywhere if it made sense.

I get why some people stay but I think everyone should live out of their hometown for at least a year or two. You can always go back.

Not immediately but eventually.

Cost of living, better job opportunities elsewhere.

Madison, MS is much greener grass than LA.

Yes. Quickly. Love to come home to visit, see everyone, 4-5 days later, can't wait to GTFO.

This pretty much sums up my return visits to La
The only reason i do return, to La, is friends and family.
You really dont see how bad the state of louisiana is compared to other states until you move away then come back.
I hate saying that because i grew up in la but have been away long enough now to see it plan as day when i go back for visits.

My job moved me back and forth between Houston and New Orleans. I've been in Houston for 17 years now. Much, much more job opportunities here and you can live in a safe area with great public schools unlike back home.

Highschool?
Worked in the oil fields for almost 2 years before everything tanked in 1986. I left for the Army and have only been back to visit since. I probably could have gone back and found work, but I always had something going elsewhere.

ETA:I friends/family who stayed and didn't get rich, but they have remained above poverty and had happy lives.

I was raised in a small town in Louisiana, worked for 4 years in NOLA right after college, and then left Louisiana for a large annual salary increase. Never moved back but have family and visit them.

I miss my friends (I loved living in br) but I like money, too.

After I graduated I waited until after I sobered up first before I left. That was the best 8 years of my life.

Leaving LA sounds very appealing but I can't imagine leaving all my friends and family here behind.

That is what has kept me here.
