Do it bro, Alpine, Camp Laney etc are great as are a bunch of others. There was a study years ago that showed that kids that went to Summer camp were significantly more independent, did better at college etc

I went to Camp Laney back in the early 90's. Really enjoyed it.

There were some guys in my cabin from Thibodeaux

I went to camp Istroma in 70s, it was awesome. Seriously, girls went nuts over me and i had no idea i was even decent looking. It was great for my self confidence. It was for my kids too.

My daughter went every year to Skyline and my son went a few years to Laney. They had a great time, although my son almost got booted from Laney one year. They meet tons of people and still have friends from camp to this day.

My buddies daughters went to Camp Strong for years and loved it. I am not sure they are doing it now.

We had sailing camp etc when I was growing up too but was day camp.

JH Ranch in california is nice too. It was 3000k or so back then but you paid in installments so it didn’t seem bad, plus i got a month or so without my house filled with kids

Went to Camp Mackenzie a couple of times to work on merit badges for Boy Scouts. It was fun.

Camp Ozark, early 90s. My sister was going with a friend so my parents sent me, too. It was a good experience being dropped in a cabin with kids who had mostly known each other for years, and having to meet people. It was good practice for when we moved states a few years later. We lived in a small town and a lot of the kids were from the Dallas and Houston areas. They seemed so sophisticated.

Weekend long church camp every summer. Was only half an hour from home. Kinda wish it was further away. Canoeing, shooting, archery, good food, friends and fun. Would highly recommend.

Various Boy Scout camps: Camp Thistlethwaite one year, but mostly Camp Edgewood (north of Lake Charles/DeQuincy).

The best was 2 weeks in the mountains at Philmont Scout Ranch in Cimarron, NM.

Walked many many local streets selling Boy Scout candy to pay my way to summer camps. (Thanks to all who bought from me -- hope ya'll didn't get diabetes, and most say I turned out alright).

4-H camp at Camp Grant Walker a few years.

Band camp one year in big ol' Bunkie.

A couple of CYO retreats mixed in there...one in Kinder, LA.

Did McCallie and Alpine a few summers. Loved it. My sons will do the same.

I attended Christian Life summer camp back in the early 90’s.

We took a trip a couple hours by bus to somewhere I forget exactly where, but it was shallow freshwater with Sand/silt bottoms with willow trees everywhere. Anyway, it began to downpour and next thing we know we are racing to get out against the beginnings of a flash-flood.

Good times.

Also remember the hundreds of beautiful 5 line and broad head skinks that congregated all over the outside AC condensing units.

There are/were absolutely beautiful woods and waterways behind Christian Life; I hope those haven’t been developed into bullshite subdivisions.

No, I cut grass, weeded, painted rails, anything for $, always had 40+$ in my pockets at 10 y/o.
Wish kids nowadays had that opportunity.

Interlochen (music camp in Michigan) and Space Camp. I couldn’t be less cool if I tried.

I was amazed when I first heard that some kids spent almost all summer at camp. I was SO envious.

Jews do this and I think it's pretty cool
