We had so many cousins to stay with in other towns for weeks at a time, 40 acres at home, and a hunting and fishing camps. Going to summer camp never occurred to us.

Fond memories of summer camp in Wisconsin each summer. Really grew into my own there. Since you didn’t see the other campers regularly, you felt more at ease being yourself and opening up. Believe it or not when I was 14, I got my first blowjob at camp. Twice actually, same guy. When I was 15, my last year to camp, I gave one for the first time, and again and again that summer, and never looked back.

Nope.
My mom found the cheapest female baby sitters on the street every summer.
My friends and I did whatever the hell we wanted all day while the teenage girls in charge of us watched MTV and talked in the phone.

My mom came home one day and couldn’t find us. We were out in the woods on a pond trying to paddle around in ice chest.

Cub scouts and Webelos. Grew out of Boy Scouts pretty fast with puberty. There were a few week-long summer camps in that organization. No particularly good or bad memories from those.

Vacation Bible School wasn't camp, it was a glorified daycare for a week.

Actual camp like what you see in movies of "Summer Camp", never did that.

But, the area I grew up in had plenty of woods and creeks and ponds and canoes and swimming holes and fish, so the whole summer was like summer camp except you get to sleep in your own bed at night, or stay at a friends if his momma called your momma to say it was ok and vice versa.

4-H Camp at Camp Grant Walker for ages 9-13. Loved it. Very affordable 1 week camp.

After 13, went to 4-H Short Course (now called 4-H university) held at LSU each summer. Stayed in a dorm and, outside of limited structure, basically did whatever we could walk to and afford. They probably supervise the youths more these days.

Nah. From a poor area. No one I knew did that growing up. Seemed like something that only existed in movies and TV shows.

Uncle Bill’s Team and Brave Council representing in the house. Used to love the dances with HoTH, Mystic, Waldemar, Kickapoo, Arrowhead, and whatever others there were. Full month away from home with no electronics, video games, etc and you learn how to function with people!

I sent my youngest son to BREC camp last 2 years (8 & 9years old) I remember the first year he didn’t wanna go complained and complained about it, so made a deal with him I’d sign him up for the first half if he didn’t like it he didn’t have to go the 2nd half, well of course after day 3-4 he was checking to make sure I had him setup for the 2nd half he couldn’t wait to go the next year. I’m assuming he gonna want to go again this year

We were too poor for summer camps. I did some Boy Scout trips. I think I did a summer camp with them once.

We sent both of my kids to Camp Cosby here in Alabama on lake Logan Martin. It was cool because my dad lived on the lake and we could take the boat around there to see them playing in the lake. What I remember most about it was the stench of their clothes when they came home. It was AWFUL. I’m talking about immediately washing the clothes as soon as you walk in the door. Awful.
