A better question for South Louisianians is "Did you drink in 8th grade?"

And the answer will still largely be an emphatic yes, as it is for me

Back in my day the driving age was 15. All we had to do was do driving school and take a test. There was no driving permits or rules or regulations.

Drinking age was 18.

If you got a DWI, it was a ticket and they released you.

Absolutely, and so did some of the teachers.

Had a bad reputation, parents forbade their daughters to date me.

not saying this is you, but you know damn well a lot of parents who talk about this stuff would be PISSED if Muhammed at Rainbow Liquor Store sold their 14 year old a 5th of Titos.

No doubt, and while I don't have kids, many of my friends do. The ones in high school are still drinking, just not out at bars as much. They do house parties. Of course, at Mardi Gras time, all bets are off. I've been drinking on the neutral ground with a bunch of my friends and their teenagers and they can hold their own

I was drinking in 7th grade at parties. Not regularly and mostly beer, but sometimes someone would get a bottle from the liquor cabinet

Back when legal age was 18, I drank my first legal beer before I went to school one Monday as a h.s. senior. Had one of those Foster Lager 24 oz cans. My birthday had been the day before. No alcohol was sold on Sunday back then.

I drank my first beer when camping in a buddy's back yard in junior high. Got sh*t-faced for the first time one night my sophomore year. Four of us drank two six packs. I got in a fight with one of my friends. We hit each other, rolled around on the ground, and got to our feet and squared up again. As we were about to trade punches again, I held up my hand and said, "Wait a minute", then threw up. That ended the fight.

My dad woke us up around 6:30 the next morning, because it got down to 28 degrees and started sleeting. We weren't in a tent. We had a fort we built with between three trees with fiberglass sides and a tin roof. We were zipped up in sleeping bags with just our noised sticking out. Beer cans were all over the ground outside. My dad never said anything about it. Neither of my parents drank in my lifetime. My dad quit when he got out of the Army. My mom says she never took a sip.

He would have been really mad if he'd caught us smoking. One night junior high night when we camped out in my back yard we lit a cigarette. My dad's window opened up, and he yelled, "Boy, you better put that cigarette out, or I'll come make your butt smoke. We didn't try to smoke again that night.

Tickets for drinking alcohol weren't a thing yet, I don't think.
