60s-80s.

I just remember old people thought hard rock was "the devil's music" when I was a kid (there was this older woman who lived a two houses down from us and one day my brother was washing his truck and has his music turned up and the older lady called and told the cops my brother was playing his devil music really loud)

Have seriously forgotten all the satanic ritual trials and bullshite psychological studies of the 90s?

I remember being scared of it because of what teachers and parents were saying in like 1994

Yes. She was friends with the girl that was killed by her boyfriend post-Katrina.

Here is the 'Final Witness' episode that recounts the murder/suicide that features an interview with the Sanchez chick.

Here is a video claiming that UPC codes were the mark of the beast

I had a brilliant, Ivy League educated History of Religion professor in college that had a PhD on the subject and he was showing us that 666 is probably not even the real number of the beast.

A lot of researchers now believe 616 (or possibly a couple of other numbers) is and it was fricked up in translations.

I can't help but think of that everything someone says something about 666

Wasn't the girl arrested for this murder also involved in the body found dismembered in that house after Katrina?

There's a connection there, but I dont remember what.
It was brought up in the what was life like after katrina thread in august. maybe the roommate was this girls friend or something, I cant remember.

Bill Elder’s Journal - 1988

Show caused quite a panic in the NOLA/Nortshore area. Haven’t watched it in 30 years but I think the roads behind Hammond High School (now the site of the LA Renaissance Fest). were mentioned in the episode. If not, according to other teenagers at that time, that area and Coles Creek Subdivision were veritable hotbeds of Satanic Activity.

The 80s was when the Satanic Panic really took off. MTV, Dungeons and Dragons, Heavy Metal... I had a teacher who was a fundamentalist Christian. He believed that rock music was inherently evil. He had a collection of records he would play backwards in class so that he could point out the satanic messages. He wouldn't let his family use Proctor & Gamble products; his daughter had to hide her hairspray and shampoo because he if found it she was punished.

Hell, read up on the McMartin Preschool Trial (Wikipedia) to see the insanity that the Satanic Panic produced.

So this was actually something people really believed? I always thought it was a joke.

I used to spin Beatles and Zeppelin records backwards on my turntable as a child. This was late 70’s so I know it was a thing then.

How do we know she was killed and then dismembered?

She could have been dismembered then killed

I actually knew Jaren, as did a couple of others who post here, and comments like this are not humorous in the least! She didn't deserve what these POS Scumbags did to her and comments like this and other similar ones made in this thread are truly tasteless and heartless. No matter what her occupation was or how individuals here view that occupation, she was still someone's Mother, Daughter, and many peoples friend. I realize this is the OT but please consider that there are people who actually loved and cared for her who may see these comments and put yourself in their shoes. How would you feel to see strangers post horrible and tasteless things on a message board about a friend or family member of yours that was no longer here to defend themselves. Sorry for the rant but some of the comments here were just completely out of line.

Yes. Google it. One of the women who dismembered her was good friends with the Marine who dismembered his gf right after Katrina. So, I guess he was a real influencer.

I did read that the Sanchez girl was a suspect in another murder, but I don't think they ever had enough evidence.
