Did The Government Violate MLK & Malcom X's Rights By Spying On Them?

The Lee Harvey Oswald thread just made me think about the 60s and all of the assassinations that took place.
Evidently J Edgar Hoover was obsessed with MLK and claimed he was concerned that MLK might work with the communist party.
He dug up dirt on MLK, sent it to him and encouraged King kill himself.
The FBI was spying on Malcom X, but it seems like Hoover didn't consider X to be as big of a threat as MLK, I guess maybe because he was for segregation, but felt that MLK was a threat to create social unrest.
Anyway, whether you like these two men or not, was it their constitutional right to do what they were doing and if so, should the government have been spying on them?

I kinda wish someone would dig up dirt on you and send it to you and encourage you to better yourself.

Malcolm X was a subversive racist.
King was not the man presented in his public persona. There is a reason a judge sealed his files for 50 years.
There will be major shock when they are opened.

Your threads really do suck but...
Yes. The government 100% violated their rights. That period in our history easily rivals what is happening now with the FISA Courts and other BS justified because of terrorism.

This is what made me think about this. After reading the Edward Snowden book I have been obsessed with the governments "security" measures that they use.. And the abilities they have.

An organization that was led by J Edgar Hoover was bound to be corrupt in spite of the Reputation they have tried to culture over the years

TBH I can’t blame a black person for being racist against whites back then

shite man none of those guys are as they are presented in public. Ghandi slept in bed with his 12 yr old nieces, mother Teresa had people sleeping on floor in 110 degree heat, even fricking Ben Franklin and Thomas Jefferson were perverted assholes.
Back before the internet and cell phones famous people were way less careful about doing bad stuff, doesn’t mean they still don’t deserve credit for the things they did do
