Oh, there will be credit. That's how credit works. You get "credit" for good and bad.
It will be very interesting to hear the "me too" crowd's reaction.
Ghandi, Mother Teresa, Franklin and Jefferson, especially Jefferson, have been vilified for their actions.
I guess we will find out in 2027.

Before the PATRIOT Act? Yes.
After the PATRIOT Act? No.

They violated your rights, if you lived back then.
In a free society, everything the government does should be 100% in the open. They're spending money they took from you, ostensibly with your consent and in your interest. How are you going to know whether that's true if you've got a bunch of secret stuff going on?
This kind of crap really took off post-WWII, and related to that there was the rise of the spy movie, a new genre designed to glamorize the public's own oppression to it.

Of course it violated their rights no questions asked. But how much has changed, the government still spies on us and no one can convince me otherwise

Malcolm X saw the err of his ways and changed his message. It’s why Louis Farrakhan had him killed.

Do yourself a favor. Read his autobiography as told to Alex Haley. It’s really, really good.

bullshite!
Malcolm played to the media. He was a bitter, hate-filled racist.
Elijah Muhammad, who had an IQ an the 70-79 range and hated America, had Malcolm killed in a power struggle.
For you little indoctrinated shite sticks that think he was some sort of hero. This was what Malclom X preached.
That black people are the original people of the world
That white people are "devils"
That blacks are superior to whites, and
That the demise of the white race is imminent.

They weren't spying on THEM, they were spying on people with them.
