My job wasn’t saved, because I’m more essential than half our workforce but I know two others would have been fired for sure.

My boss actually has really struggled with one of them but feels bad about firing them during a pandemic. He’s told me point blank that PPP is the only reason she has a job. Millennial progressive chick that is very very smart but just can’t get the job done.

Dude taxpayers are going to be paying for this for the next 40 years. Maybe Congress should earmark only money from business owners to fund this.

This seems like a clear overreach of public tax dollars for a religious institution. All from a diocese that has a huge endowment and is constantly in position to pay down substantially more debt than is due at the time.

I'm sure that happened all over the nation. That is such a hypocritical thing for a religious organization to do, knowing damn well their congregation knows what really happened. I'm a Christian and full believer, but it's this type stuff that gives ammo to the non-believers.

Oh well, of course, I happily moved my stimulus into the saving and Robinhood and I didn't miss a single day of work so maybe that makes me a hypocrite too.

Our government does not ‘print’ money. This will be paid for by Federal bonds. So, yes it will be paid back.

His point doesn't apply to you if you were forced to close and you derived no benefit other than being able to pay your employees and some operating expenses with the money.

Companies that saw no negative impact to business or revenues during the shutdown shouldn't be able to have the loan forgiven (at taxpayer expense) simply by moving funds around on paper. That wasn't the intent of the program.

I can guarantee you that I have paid a significant amount of federal taxes over the years that far exceeds a very large PPP loan that 85% of which went to employees.

I am still extremely far behind on the taxpayer benefit game.

They finally owed me for forcing us to close.

What these idiots dont realize that the PPP money will stimulate the economy, that money businesses are getting are going right back into the economy...

The businesses that don’t use it as it’s designed will pay it back with interest

Can you explain the parochial schools ie Episcopal in Baton Rouge accepting millions while ostensibly not loosing any income via tuition?

Maybe you should ask someone associated with the school

You're right.....but it just eats at my craw a bit to see some companies using this shite as a slush fund when they really didn't need it.

Ah well no sweat off my sack at the present moment I guess.

You’ve been deliberately ignoring the point for 2 pages, and you finally respond with “dunno, you should ask them”?

If your stance is that the program doesn’t have to be efficient (in terms of getting money to those who actually need it while preventing a windfall for those who don’t) to be effective, that’s certainly an argument that can be made. Although I wonder if folks taking this stance feel the same way about food stamps, unemployment, etc.

I don’t know what type of financial hit Episcopal took. Do you know if the parents that were paying tuition month to month just quit paying? I have no clue how the shutdown on March 15th affected them. I’m sure they lost a lot of revenue due to fundraisers, sporting events, concessions, gate fees, etc.

Just because they are a private school doesn’t mean all their money comes just from tuition.

Why don’t you ask for their balance sheet and see where the money is and isn’t going

I know where the money is coming from and where it’s going for my kids school. Maybe you should be more responsible before you start having diarrhea of the mouth on a message board

A point often overlooked on this board.

Several Large NOLA grocery stores got PPP money. The grocery stores were killing it during covid times.

FYI I finally opened the list on my laptop today, and my company is listed. I know for a fact we withdrew our app sometime after approval and did not actually receive funds.

I wonder how many similar situations are on the list.
