Did I just ruin my new lawnmower (overfilled oil?)?

Lads, I just set up my new Toro motor and cut three beautiful strips of my front lawn. Suddenly, the old gal (one hour old) stops running and is billowing white smoke from the engine, which is also scalding hot.
A quick Google search reveals that this is possibly overfilled oil, and that I may have to try to remove filter, drain oil, etc. (or bring her in for a repair at the ripe old age of one day).
What a pussy I am, but I followed the instructions. Here is a picture of the oil that came with the mower. It reads:
Can someone help a fellow Brit out? TIA

Overfilling an air-cooled engine generally won't hurt anything at all. does your mower have a dipstick to check oil level?

Lol take off the filter and cap and spin the blade. Chances are great that it's out of your mechanical aptitude since you can't service it properly. Best of luck my friend.

If swallowed, do NOT induce vomiting...call a physician immediately.

It does but it’s too dark to check properly. I’ll look tomorrow AM

But why does the bottle say USE ENTIRE CONTENTS FOR INITIAL FILL if it’s not true?

Add a cup of tea and your good to go

You check the oil level anyway. Things would be much worse if the entire contents had grossly under filled the oil reservoir.

Briggs and Stratton or Honda engine?

Sounds like you got a lemon of a mower.

I’m not a Brit, so GFY.

But really, give me some more info on the mower. Is it a push mower? Did you check to see that it had oil before adding the bottle that said to add the whole thing? I know you just assumed, but it’s entirely possible someone had already added oil.

Obviously check dipstick
Pull sparkplug and screw it back it to be sure.
And check starter fluid.

Still gotta check it when servicing it unfortunately. Where at in the UK are you from?

My guess is you bought an engine that should not have passed the quality check at the Mexican Briggs and Stratten plant.

Bruhhhh...you always check the oil level with the dipstick, always! You can't just go by what it says on the label. You have to actually verify that you have the correct amount of oil and if it's grossly underfilled, then you probably burnt the engine up.

It came brand new in a box no way there was oil in it.
