Did any of you feel stuck in college?

I see the other guys I graduated with going to work out of school and buying the things they want or other kids in college who get whatever they want from their parents.
I have a full ride to college so I don't wanna just throw it away but it sure is hard not having much money because I can't have a full time job.
I'm going for engineering, but I'm swayed to just go earn my Ptech and become an operator. What say the rant?

So you were clingy in college?

If you were smart enough to get a full ride to college, suck it up for a few more years. Your ceiling is much higher long-term as an engineer vs. an operator.

Don't look at others to gauge yourself. I've made this mistake. Everyone is different and take different paths. We may all be looking for success but there are 37973498374897 roads that lead to success.
Keep your shite together, peel yourself off the couch and keep working towards a goal and you will be satisfied.
Good luck

I understand where you're coming from, but you have to think long term. I graduated after 4 years then went straight to grad school to get the extra schooling done now before I get a job. If you think of how much better off you will be in just a few more years, you can push through it.

I just don't have the drive like I did in high school for some reason. In high school I played lots of sports and was pretty good at each of them. I had a reason to go to school and do good. I don't have much of a reason like I used to.

The sacrifices you make today will pay dividends down the road.
Unless some real unlucky shite happens and it is what it is. Tough it out.
You're are not destined to do shite, you just have potential which mean you ain't done shite yet.

Guess I'm just gonna have to really focus on what the degree would mean to my future.

Also don't think just because you see people buying what that they are making tons of money. Majority of these people either lie about how much they make or are in mountains of debt. Seen it many times firsthand, so do what you feel comfortable and don't gauge yourself from other people

Your reason now is your future.

Are you comparing yourself to your friends that have full time jobs right now?

I had friends in college that went work offshore during the summer. Started smelling the money and decided they wanted them a big nice new F150. Got themselves in debt and wasn't ever able to catch back up and go back to school. Stayed behind the 8ball and couldn't afford the life they got themselves accustomed/in debt to. They now look back and regret not finishing their degree to this day.

College isn't for everyone. I simply did not like it, loved high school, but just could never get enthused about my college classes, save for a select few which I greatly enjoyed. These classes guided my interest in a productive direction and I'm currently taking an extended break- got a job in the field I was working towards at LSU and decided training and real experience are more valuable to me at the moment for a number of reasons. I'll probably go back and complete the 30 hours I have left down the road, but I want to be financially stable enough to where I'm not stressed out about peripheral garbage.

Took me 7 years to graduate so I am gonna say yeah I felt stuck.

I'm trying to do a co-op as soon as possible. I think actually making some money and seeing what I could potentially make will help.

I was in the same boat as you some 20 years ago when I was at LSU. Stick with it. Engineers will continue to be in high demand and we can't hire enough of them. Obtaining an engineering degree from LSU isn't easy but will reward you with a great career and a very comfortable life in the future. A healthy balance of social life and studies is needed in college to keep your sanity.
Good luck and don't give up. It will come.

Yep you gotta rack your brain to get the engineering degree but that degree is gold right now. My company also is hiring them as interns then right after straight up the corporate ladder. Starting at about 80 k/yr not to bad and after that six figures the rest of the way.

I'm maintaining about a 3.5, but because I don't really care for the classes, I tend to crash study.

For what it's worth, I was in the the same exact boat in college....20 years ago. I opted for get out and make money and make money I did. I was making more then most of my friends - until they graduated and got raise after raise. Now at 39 I'm back in school with 3 kids, a wife, a job, bills and all the other responsibilities that go with being damn near 40. Take it from me, stick with it now because trying to retain info that your studying with the other hundred things that are already going through your head SUCKS! Sounds like you have a case of burnout. Plan a trip or something for the summer, get out and be young, enjoy life. Good luck!
