If you still are not getting service the fix is simply changing your DNS to 8.8.8.8 (Google DNS).
The dumbass Customer Service reps don't even know this.
I had to wireshark my own fricking service to figure this out.
Also sign up for openDNS so you'll never be impacted by this again.
i was affected this morning.
after rebooting router, wireless, and computer i was all eff me.
then pinged 4.2.2.2 and it went through... i was pissed i didn't realize it was DNS as well. did figure that out before this thread. and i work in techology.

And like that, that poster disappeared from the thread.
Some people try soooo hard in the weirdest places for that gotcha moment, it's strange.

I live in Dallas and mine was out. I restarted my modem and it fixed the problem.

It's absolutely mind boggling.

Which modem do you have? I have an Arris SB6190 and even a power cycle wouldn't fix it.

Still here. Just nothing to add.

I did this last night, and it worked fine after that. I have no idea what any of this means though. Do I have to eventually change it back, or can I leave it on the Google DNS?

I'm in Dallas, in the city, no problems here.

DNS = Domain Name Server
Here's a picture of how it works:
You don't necessarily have to change your DNS back. You can actually lookup Spectrum DNS IP addresses and just add it to the alternate box.

There's an awful lot of white space in that map. Where's Fort Worth? I thought this was like all of North Texas and DFW. You know... end of the world shite.

Hey, it impacted me so it was the end of the world.
Thanks for the DNS info 50_Tiger, got me back up.

The map literally shows all of downtown, uptown Dallas and park cities without service as well as highly populated business centers along the tollway, which includes headquarters of Dr pepper, frito lay, etc, as well as the the telecom corridor in Richardson. Also all of Irving and Las colinas which is full of people and business, looks like part of the airport and grapevine area, and most of Lewisville.
No one said end of the world shite, but that is a significant chunk of DFW to be out of service.

He didn't bother to read the article stating the other large metro areas affected.
Np bud! Spectrum really dropped the ball on this.
Their DNS IP's have changed but are up.

FWIW, I live in Wylie and mine is out too. Don't know why some folks have to be so damn particular. It affected customers in DFW, just not ALL customers. Give the guy a freaking break!!
