You don't necessarily have to change your DNS back. You can actually lookup Spectrum DNS IP addresses and just add it to the alternate box.
Thanks man, I appreciate the graphic as well. Any advantages to changing the DNS back to Spectrum as opposed to leaving it as Google's? What are you going to do?

I signed up for OpenDNS. Not a need, but it seems like lately Spectrum service has been shoddy.
I updated my DNS IP table to Open DNS -> Google -> Spectrum.
A good DNS gives you semi faster service. However, don't expect it to be life changing .

Interesting. I'm in Rockwall, and this is the first time we've had any issues.

I have no concept of how to do any of this. How do I get to the settings for my network so that I can change
my DNS. And is open DNS free?

Change your adapter settings.
1) Right click on network icon on your bottom right screen.
2) Select Open Network and Sharing Center
3) Select from the left menu Change Adapter Settings.
4) Select your connection (usually says Ethernet or whatever you named it.
5) Under the Network tab select Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)
6) Select Properties
7) You should see blank IP addresses due to them being selected automatically.
8)Under the DNS portion. Select either manual input or "Use the following DNS Addresses."
9) Input 8.8.8.8
10) Hit OK
