Lemme guess. You drive a pickup truck? Amirite? At least the laborers and blue collars have their own beach and it's in bama. Thanks for helping keep the trash out of florida.

These are the most well financed Laborers in the world to be able to afford 750-1.5 mil condos! Nice attempt at a point though!

I’m with you. While I like Destin, OB is so much closer, very clean, and my go to destination when I need beach time

I’ve stayed in FWB, OB, Pensacola and Destin over the last 30 years. The further east the better the beach and clearer the water. OB/Gulf Shores is only a thing because it’s the first decent beach on the gulf coast coming from the West. Pensacola has a better vibe to it than all the others due to it being an actual city with a downtown and good night life area along with a few solid restaurants. FWB/Destin has great beaches and good nightlife with restaurants but has been overpopulated with tourists for probably 10-8 years. Sandestin is a great area.

I’ve never been past Sandestin. From the pictures and descriptions of my family members who go to Rosemary beach and the other 30A beaches it’s your upper class beach goers who like the fancy things.

I personally spend the whole day on the beach or in the water. I could give two f-ks how scenic the area is as long as the beach has white fluffy sand and the water is clear and blue.

Navarre Beach is better than both of them put together.

Ive thought this for over 20 years, and yet it amazes me that Navarre continues to remain under the radar and never even mentioned in these Destin v P’cola vs Gulf Shores discussions... that’s definitely a good thing though, NB is by far the most pristine, secluded beach of all of them, yet only 30 min in either direction from restaurants in P’cola or Destin.

Screw 30A. Went there for years and now it is to crowded with the people who now think they are to good for the redneck riviera. Drive a little further and get to Anna Maria Island, Bradenton Beach, Longboat Key or Siesta Key.

Well, there aren't a lot of condos there (which is a good thing) and not much for the people with families who want to do more than just hang at the beach.

I like the area and respect whoever involved in the local government there for keeping growth in check.

Those are a lot more than ‘a little’ farther than most beaches discussed here.. but totally worth the drive, particularly Siesta Key Beach which is on a whole other level, and is the best beach in America.

This! I go on vacation to slow down, I like that it’s non-commercial. Don’t need fancy restaurants we cook most of our dinners anyways. I hate 1-2 hour waits for tourist food! Beach is great! And now that my kids are 18+ my vacations are no longer defined by the school calendar!!

I just left Destin after a week to visit my mom in OB. Actually we were in Miramar Beach, next to Destin. The beach there is much better than OB. Both are nice though. And compared to the east coast beaches where I live, they are both light years better.

I've always gone to OB, even planned to retire there, but this year I stayed in Miramar Beach, and now my plans have changed.

This is another reason I don't get the hate for panhandle beaches in general if you are just talking about the beach.

I've been up and down the east coast beaches from Maine all the way down and around to Key West.
I've been to three places in California and Seattle. Been to four beach places in Mexico.

The AL and FL panhandle aren't fancy by any means, but it's not a bad way to vacation sometimes.

shite.. I shouldn’t have let the secret get out.

This is true. If you ain’t looking to drink and party like a toothless redneck, and are looking for a peaceful pristine beach to rotisserie and spend time w the fam, then Navarre is by FAR the very best.

Ummm.... no. Houses get built on the beach, also.
