Worked in the service industry for 8 years from when I was 16 through college. Yes different cultures tip differently but it is never ever going to be worth it to spend one second thinking about it, complaining about it, or doing the most idiotic shite like these geniuses did.

Just give everyone you serve the best service possible and don’t sweat the small stuff and you will be fine and happier at the end of the day. The most miserable, shitty people I worked with were the ones who bitched and moaned about every fricking not perfect tip every fricking day. It all evens out in the end.

I don’t see anything wrong with what the restaurant is doing.

The employees in question will almost certainly be terminated. Businesses will typically issue a suspension rather than firing on the spot.

I would normally agree with you, but an apology was 100% warranted in this case. The waiter and manager were wrong and then made it worse by lying.

They put the owner in an impossible position here. I think he handled it as well as he could.

This apology was needed. What they pulled on this couple was fricked up.

The trash you’re describing largely can’t afford anything in there

Good, because that whole situation (if it is true the way it is alleged to have gone down) was bullshite and that restaurant did that couple dirty.

"The fact that my staff tried to cover the situation up by lying about it makes it much worse," Vega said.

And that's even worse.

An apology (at the very least) was definitely warranted here. And at least one or two people should've lost their job because of it.

I’m saying this public nonsense won’t help anything and only make things worse.

Yeah for once this wasn’t a Jussie act.

It’s sad that all the jussie, bubba and msm garbage has desensitized us to the point we immediately suspected that the couple was lying about this.

Well, this apology and backlash was self inflicted.

Don't feel sorry for them

Profiling about tips is also generational. My grandparents and aunts and uncles who lived through the depression were cheap tippers. I don't think they ever tipped over 10 percent and maybe approached 15 percent only if they didn't have enough change to make 10 percent and they always paid cash.

Ate there Friday night. Service was exceptional.

If they keep that up That level of service , i don't think tips will ever be an issue

I agree he should have apologized. But why must it be a public apology? Why can’t it be between the restaurant owner, the couple and the employees?

I was shocked when I saw the name. Without saying too much, Mr. Washington is a local attorney who I have had the pleasure of working with on a client situation about 7-8 years ago. To say he was impressive is an understatement. He was a huge help for us. I haven't worked with him since then because I haven't had a situation with a client that needed his level of expertise.

If he says it happened, it happened. I also fully believe him and his wife are the type of people that would easily tip more than 20 percent for good service.

A suspension without pay is how any large organization needs to handle this, they will get their ducks in a row and fire these employees.

I know the O-T likes to talk about "bend the knee" blah blah but this is a really bad thing this server and his manager did.

If they don't do this, they will be canceled. Have to get out in front of it before it "leaks" to the media.

Now it'll be forgotten in a week.

The couple asked for a public apology.

I said this before, this is the only thing to do if the story was true and apparently it was.

Hopefully the couple that was slighted can forgive and forget and the restaurant and others can learn a lesson here.

Joke would have been on them if they did that to my wife and I. We generally tip more than 20% if the service and food are good. If they wanted to settle for 20%, that's fine by me.

Tigerdropping posters said it didn't happen. Just the norm from Lunchbunch or whatever his screen name is and his crew. Wrong as usual.
