I’ve been in dozens of terrible homes.

A hoarder house is pretty bad with just walking paths through the home due to stacked clutter.

Pet hoarders are on another level.

Imagine the hell of a single wide trailer full of cats and dogs that have free reign.

Do these people pick up stay animals or do they start off with two then they just breed and breed and they do nothing about it?

I know people who hoard have some type of mental problems, but if they are trying to take care of these animals they are actually creating a worse environment for them..

Parlange plantation in Point Coupee parish.

I can vouch for this, toured Parlange in the early 80’s, stuff everywhere. They apparently never threw anything or put anything away.

Bags as in more than one garbage bag filled with dead roaches?

yep. And kids in the house. And the kids peed in the floor registers so when the heat kicked on the house smelled like warmed piss.

This is the reason I don't and will never own rental property.

Dated a chick over 20 years ago that had a horrible family living situation. They lived poor because of a dead beat dad. Her mom worked two jobs to clothes and feed three kids. The kids never helped their mom with the house.
There was dog shite all over, the carpet looked like it was never shampooed. The kitchen was always dirty. I understood why she never wanted me to meet them. I really felt sorry for the mom. She did her best to keep them with the basics of life.

You haven't lived until you've been in a camper with a dead body that's been in there a week with the heater on.

License said Ol Boy was 165 lbs, he looked 300± from bloating.

Decomp smell is the worst and permeates everything you have on.

Rode home with the windows down and stripped bare arse at the door.

I once was in an animal hoarder’s house. She had a couple of dozen cats, a couple of dozen dogs, a few rabbits, and even some turtles in a bathtub. It was a two story house and so much piss had soaked into the upstairs floor that the first floor ceiling sagged. I can’t find adequate words to describe the smell but we had to go in with respirators on. The place ended up getting condemned.

There was a cat hoarder lady on the corner of my grandparent's former home in Dallas. The owners had over 40 cats with completely free reign of the home. They had over 25 years of the Dallas Morning News collected & stacked all over the place along with loads of garage sale CRAP. Apparently the woman would go every weekend & come home with more & more.

Well, one weekend, they both died within hours of each other. The cats managed to make their ways out of the home. You could smell EVERYTHING from the street just walking & even driving by.

After a few days, someone in the family finally got a wellness check executed & they found the bodies. Animal control had to come. Later, a trash service company couldn't finish the interior clean up of all the garbage. They ended up just bulldozing the home & someone bought the lot to build a McMansion on it.

I will never forget nor be able to successfully explain that supremely foul stench.

25 years ago. Nice neighborhood, older part of town. Divorced mom, high school girl that I was friends with. I am picking her up to drive to school, ask to use the bathroom.

The bathroom sink (only bathroom in the house) is FULL of cosmetics. Like stacked to the brim, all old and dusty. Countertop is covered as well. If the faucet hadn't been there, I would've assumed there was no sink.

They offered me the kitchen sink to wash my hands, the kitchen wasn't much better in empty counter space. Dead bugs everywhere.

This was before hand sanitizer was a normal thing, I had to wait till school to wash my hands again.

None of you have seen anything like I saw while working on remodeling some of the Shreveport Housing Projects back in the late 80's. They had trash piled up everywhere and while doing some repair work the kids would come in from school and push the roaches out of the pot of food to get something to eat. One apartment that we needed to get into had a dead body in it when we finally got into it.

I've been in some disgusting ones. Hoarders and people with rat problems I tell them sorry and turn around and leave. Not risking my health for the lazy.

I've seen nightmares but the one thing that stands out to me the most is the mental illness that is part of it.
I know a guy actually my neighbor is his mom and he lives with her. Anyway he lost all concept of trash. I brought something up to his room and trash was piled ankle high. Coke cans, cigarette packs, etc. The dude is almost 50, no excuse in my mind to live like that.

I used to deliver appliances and had to bring out a fridge. The way the house was set up, their front door was blocked with what looked like trash and random crap. So we had to go through the garage to get to the kitchen. The garage was covered dog shite. Like they purposely had a rug in there for that reason. Then, the fridge was directly next to the stove. The stove had cooked on food and dirty pans. When we pulled the fridge out, there was some type of food item that had been dropped between the wall and molded into a cocoon like thing. It was like a roach bomb had gone off. The top of their fridge was caked in dust and some type of poo. The door seals were covered in crushed roaches.

I asked if I could run home and change clothes after that delivery.

I had a friend when I was younger that the first time I went to his house, I stepped in dog shite, in the house. They would leave it sitting there all day.

We bought property in Hawthorne about two years ago. It has two sides and one side we are clearing to build on and doing controlled burns. The other side has an old slave quarters built in the 1800s that was lived in until about 2005ish.

So we knew the slave quarters house was pretty full of stuff, but the original plan was I would work on it and fix it up to have a home for her mom once we move in.

It was hoarded to an absurd degree. I mean you could not walk in any part of the house. It took me, my girl, and two friends two months of going out there on the weekends to actually get everything out. We filled two massive dumpsters and still had to burn a lot of stuff that wouldnt go in them. There was shite all over the bathroom from I'd guess homeless squatters because there were tampons and TP there that looked somewhat new with no dust on them. Just insane. The amount of massive rats and wolf spiders was terrifying.

Either way. We have it cleaned and I've gotten some work done on it, but the new plan is to work on getting a grant to fully restore. I leveled the foundation and put in new windows and rebuilt the left side of the house so far on the outside...but it will cost to much to be worth it I'm starting to feel unless we can get a grant. It is one of the oldest dwellings in the State, so I'm sure we can get some.

When I was in nursing school in early 70’s, I did a semester at Huey P.Long hospital.I was at this chick’s apartment and she tells me she wants to meet her next door neighbor.
She rings the doorbell and who answers the door but the chief surgical resident. He invites us in,wife is in the kitchen. They had couple little dogs, every square foot of their apartment had a pile of dog shite. It ranged from fresh to so old it looked petrified.
