The key thing is age. Age of consent in Louisiana is 17, while it may look inappropriate for a 40 year old to have sexual relations with someone in that age group. The teen made a choice. Now if the kid is calling it rape or unwanted sexual advances after the fact that is where it can get dicey, and then you add that alcohol was potentially involved, the DA could have a field day with that. But it is all in the DA’s hands.
Also, the kid’s parents could be looking for a payday too.
Anyone remember the pervy Jefferson Parish president buying a teenage boy underwear and sending explicit text messages to a teenage boy? As bad as that looked, he apologized and managed to stay in office and fight off a recall effort, but did not run for reelection in 2019. But the story doesn’t end there, Mike Yenni is creeping back into public life as the JP registrar of voters was hiring him to be a deputy registrar despite also having a public school ban after the incident that dates back to 2016.
