Move for directed verdict

In all my years in law enforcement and all the times I had to go to court, I never saw a directed verdict or an Allen Charge.

Or if they happened I wasn't aware.

Did the defense have the option of a Jury or just a judge?

as long as we the taxpayers don't rebuild for them. Let them stew in their own juices.

let them walk miles to get some groceries if they burn stores down that they shop at.

When Chauvin is set free and the rioters burn cities to the ground you can lay 99% of the blame at the feet of politicians and especially the media. I just got done watching a couple minutes of left wing news and they’re certain that he’s guilty and he should just be locked up now. They all echo the same garbage so if that’s all you watch then you’ll tend to believe it.

Nobody is arguing that a druggie died. I'm asking for proof that the hero Chauvin killed him.

Of course, there is none.

I sat on a jury trial in 07/08 for a medical malpractice case (civil).

Judge didn’t want me on the jury bc I’m a lawyer but he had no choice.

Plaintiff’s expert said the doctor exceeded the standard of care and I slammed my notebook under my chair.

Defense moved for directed verdict and it was granted

The jury was pissed bc they wanted the plaintiff to get paid

I knew she got paid bc the hospital admitted fault. The doctor didn’t do anything wrong, it was the nurses who couldn’t count.

I pray I’m never a civil defendant in Nola

I am trained in this. The officers knee is to hold down their shoulder so they can’t come back up and continue fighting. Chauvin’s black pants near the head made it look like it was on his neck which it was not.

Eating fentanyl while you have Covid 19 is a deadly combination. Not the Cop’s fault.

I do not. Is it out there? Drips and drabs of info leak and people run with the snippet of info. My opinion of what I am reading.

Knowing this will be one of the most scrutinized autopsy and corpse of all time.

I mean, paramedics couldn't have given him ativan or something to chill him out?

Not without knowing what he was under the influence of. Opioids and benzos can be a very deadly combo.

It's been posted here many times and you can Google it for yourself.

But it seems like you prefer to make your decisions based on emotion and not facts. I'm married to a woman and I have a preteen daughter.

I understand what you're going through.

Big emotions can be scary.

The man had 11 ml of fentanyl in his system. That is 5 times the lethal dose.

we know, or we think we know that Floyd swallowed his Fentanyl when police arrived

Never heard that? Absolutely an issue for prosecution if proven. I would assume stomach contents could be tested and a sky high blood content of fentanyl.

Don’t opiate overdoses have a drowning like effect? Fluid backs up in the lungs? I’m 60/40 positive I’ve read that a few times??

“Dumb bastard OD’d while I held him down”. Is absolutely a defense for murder. Maybe some negligence? But murder?

This is not the poli board. My mind CAN be changed.

Ain't nothing emotional. I could give a rats arse about George Floyd dying or Derek Chauvin. Same way Floyd would have a given a rats arse if I was in that position. I'm just saying what I think the case was.

It's sad that you had to put this disclaimer, like civil conversation and open minds are a rare thing.

He had 11 ng/ml in his system, which can't be ascertained to how much he swallowed.

quote:

“If he were found dead at home alone and no other apparent causes, this could be acceptable to call an O.D. [Over Dose],” the notes say.

quote:

The lethal dose of fentanyl is generally stated to be 2 milligrams. This lethal dose considers that the individual has not developed significant tolerance; however, even in individuals with significant tolerance, the lethal dose of fentanyl is extremely small compared to the potential lethal doses of many other opiate drugs.

He also had meth in his system.

quote:

Cocaine (and similar stimulants) and heroin (and similar opioids)
exert different effects on the brain.
? For example, consuming cocaine and heroin together creates a
“push-pull” reaction in the body and brain.11
? By combining a stimulant and an opioid, users experience an
intense rush, while hoping to reduce the negative effects of both
drugs.

quote:

Stimulants like meth have long
-
lasting effects. Opioids slow the
activity of the central nervous
system, including breathing.

quote:

Taking stimulants with opioids can cause
negative side effects typically associated with
the abuse of either one individually, such as a
state of general confusion, incoherence, blurred
vision, stupor, drowsiness, paranoia, and mental
impairment because of lack of sleep.13
? The combination can also result in uncontrolled
and uncoordinated motor skills, and also the risk
of death from stroke, heart attack, aneurysm, or
respiratory failure.

quote:

Meth and other stimulants mask the effects
of the opioid.
? Since the effects of meth outlast heroin, a
person’s heart rate may also rapidly
change pace. Their heart rate can go from
very slow and depressed and then speed
up very quickly.
? A rapid change in heart rate and
respiration rate can cause arrhythmias,
heart failure or stroke.

quote:

Respiratory failure is particularly likely with speedballs because the
effects of stimulants wear off far more quickly than the effects of
opioids.
