I have family on the Dallas metro, mostly north and east of it

NWS Fort Worth
@NWSFortWorth

*Tonight's Severe Threat Update*

We have outlined the area with the greatest threat for 80+ mph winds (pink hatching). You need to PREPARE for widespread damaging winds, but know NOT EVERYONE will see 80+ mph, this will occur in "pockets" along the line!

I live in North Texas. Now I’m trying to decide if I need to go put my truck in the garage at work. I can’t get my garage door at home to close with the truck in place.

I would, if it isn't too much trouble. This is a potential big hail day with the SPC calling for giant hail up to 3-5". I was hoping NWS Dallas/Ft. Worth would get a balloon up at noon, but it doesn't look like they did. Looks like Amarillo got one up, and it shows a decent hail environment even though it is a bit removed from the best parameters.

I 100% would. At worst you miss it. But if you protect it then its one less thing to stress over as storms approach. Its not often a derecho is forecast.

I think I will. I can get a ride tonight. It will only cost me an Uber in the morning. It’s worth it because if I do get hail, I don’t wanna be worried about my car and House.

We get to play round robin to see how many cars we can fit in the garage again. One of my favorite springtime in Texas games. Right up there with Guess Where the Trampoline Lands and How Many Times Will the Sirens Go Off.

Smart move. Everyone is predicting bad weather of some type. And I hope everyone is wrong. But you are smart to take measures to mitigate potential damage imo

That warned storm SE of Amarillo has a destructive thunderstorm tag and is warned for 80mph wind and softball sized hail.

Yeah but Derechos sound more sinister…¡muy malo!

And you can justify cancelling school/work with a cool name like Derecho.

So you're telling me that being in an 18 wheeler in Wilmer for the night is not a good idea? oh boy.

80 mph winds and heavy hail sounds like window breakers.

The current severe storms in Northern DFW seem to be becoming sub severe (at least the Lewisville cell).

I guess its to get you prepped for the main event in 5 hours

Yeah. The real problem was supposed to be this evening, not these earlier starter storms.

You rang? the good news is this first bout of storms doesn't look bad and hopefully you can get to DFW within the next 3 hours. After 9pm looks nasty

Where are you connecting to?
