Women are much more susceptible to rape. So, controlling how much you drink is on us, the girls? You can be stupefied drunk, no problem, no one is raping you,
Yikes

If you wake up alone, don't know where you are or how you got there, it's pretty safe that it was rape
You're either leaving out some details or making some pretty big assumptions to try to get into the victim group here.
Not trying to get into some victim group. Just stating that many on here would not ever know about many rapes because if the girl who was clueless and unable to give consent doesn't get killed, she called her friends who come and get her and the incident is never reported. Just because she wasn't killed doesn't mean she gave consent or that anyone ever knows it happened. It is much more common than most men would like to believe.

Additionally with the 28 year old man charged...forever, there have been men who are older who hang around the college bars with the intent of preying on the young coed. They weren't usually raping them, but they definitely were there on a mission of taking home a young girl who didn't realize what hit her.
It's sad and hard to communicate it so that a young women in their upper teens and young 20s really understands just how dangerous it is to go out and get shitfaced drunk. These young women truly are prey for many men. I surely didn't realize it until many years later looking back and realizing what some of the men were up to.
I amended what I wrote so that hopefully it makes sense to you. Men are out there who are just looking for a drunk girl to take advantage of. They've always been there and probably always will be. They are often charming. It's hard to warn young women because they often are just naive and think someone is being nice, paying them attention, they enjoy getting free drinks, etc.
There...you happy? Just saying the only reason we know about THIS particular situation is because she was killed. If she had lived the night, chance are she would have called her friends and the rapists would not be in jail.

quote:you only need to be 18 to get in but 21 to drink. they put a big X on your hand if you're under 21/don't use a fake ID but as long as you can get someone to get you one, you are good to drink. i had literally hundreds of drinks there as a freshman and had one taken away, and was told to chug or toss another.
Question: if underage drinking is such a big deal to Tate and others, how can someone under the age of 21 get inside the building to begin with? Is it the law that allows people under 21 to get in?

Why are you so strange? Why are you talking about something that I didn’t even bring up while not addressing what my post was originally about?
Were you not getting enough attention in this thread or something?
Not at all, a poster asked who had been in this circumstance. I have. I am sure you haven't.
I have talked extensively about my experience here,

Rape of men is more common than yo think it is as well. Save this nonsense for a different thread.

Was there a thread for it?
My only point was that while tragic, the deceased should share at least a small part of the blame for what happened to her, then you went off on a tangent talking about how I should agree that men don’t get raped as much as women
What?!?? That has nothing to do with what I said

I mean so it seems this thread has turned back to “being drunk isn’t rape just an excuse for women”. Interesting

Oh shut the frick up with your contrarian bullshite
That’s not what I said nor is it what I implied

Absolutely no shock that this is what you take away from what's happening in this thread right now.
I'm out of here before the PMs start

Lol. I read his comment and laughed out loud.
Look, I’m not playing the victim as a female. I would worry endlessly about my son going to lsu, as well. But not because I was concerned he’d be raped
I would be concerned for his physical safety and well being being surrounded by the same type of criminal elements who preyed upon Madi. But what they’d do to my son would be different than what they’d do to my daughter, let’s be totally honest.

If this girl wasn’t killed and woke up this next morning instead on the floor of her apartment, nothing changes about the sexual events that occurred
So if a woman wakes up so drunk from the night before she remembers nothing , was it rape? Does it matter if she was flirty or not?

Yes.
I have been around for a long time. We can trace most tragic things back to decisions, bad or good. Your request to heap blame on a college student who was raped and left to be run over seems a bit trite. How about we hold accountable the men who did this to her, regardless of her drinking choices. Are you also interested in what she was wearing?
