Oh yeah... an unrelated rape of a minor would be highly, highly prejudicial and no way a judge allows that to be presented to the jury unless that particular defendant gets on the stand and "opens the door" by saying something to the effect of "I've never been in trouble a day in my life"
Now if he's convicted during the trial... it will definitely be used during the sentencing phase to ask for a stiffer prison sentence

A lot of you are consitutionalists and federalists. There is a reason the founding fathers enshrined the right to a jury trial in our originating document. Even in the face of a world they could not have imagined, jury trials work.

I find it very believable that she was asking to be let out. Was Carver supposed to lock her in the car? If the girl (BIG IF) asked to get out and said she was getting an Uber, her death isn’t Carver’s fault. Unless He is being charged with murder, that shouldn’t affect his sentence.
Maybe y’all’s college experience was different but I can think of a few friends (male and female) that had no problem trying to walk home drunk from a bar Or going home with comete strangers. I did it myself almost 25 years ago on Burbank. I was in front of what is now atomic burger and there wasn’t shite back then in that area. I was trying to walk back to bayou fountain before some random couple picked me up and gave me a ride at 2am. I even picked up a drunk in the same area another night and gave them a ride home. That was long before everyone had smartphone in their pocket.

Those FB comments are truly vile. However, I don’t think the 12-year-old victim is white. She appears to be biracial. In my mind, the race of the victim should be immaterial. It is disgusting that those FB commenters are rushing to Kavion’s defense simply because he is “more black” than his 12-year-old victim. That is evil.

Their ability to walk to the car, start it and get on the road oes not make it true. She was in no condition to consent simply by basis of the BAC numbers. Graveyards are filled with people who are there because their alcohol tolerance allowed them to get behind the wheel, but passed out after getting on the road and killed either themselves or others. They were "functioning" to get to their car, but were out of their minds drunk, all the same. You know this.
Now if some jurors are simpletons blinded by race, it's another matter.

those are nice sentiments. ideally all four are cold in a morgue less than two weeks from today. for real impact moving forward, horror and mortal terror can be allies.

Agreed. The comments on FB are nauseating and a scary state of where we are today but the hive mentality is awful on both sides.
The posters who see that the truth is somewhere in the middle have been slammed in this thread while others want 4 ropes to hang them all when the reality is that this is not a cookie cutter one size fits all.
And if someone points a fact they are instantly labeled a rapist or rapist defender. I’ve been accused of banging high schoolers & trying to be the cool mom for repeating what my daughter said when I asked her what seniors were saying.
You can still think she was raped while also realizing this wasn’t Derrick Todd Lee preying in a parking for his next victim to kidnap and kill. You can also think she probably wanted to have sex with Desmond (the guy she was with all night) and that Washington is an animal who raped her anally.
