Handling depression is tricky. I’m recently divorced, been separated for 10 months, and I thought I was finally moving on. But nope. This week has been super hard.

I could never trust my ex again but I miss her. Well, I miss the good times we had together and there were a lot. I keeping beating myself up over it, telling myself I ruined the greatest thing I’ll ever have and there’s nothing I can do about it. Nothing will ever be better than the good times in my marriage. I keep telling myself it’s my fault even though it’s not. It’s both of ours.

I’ve been stuck in depression all week over it.

Ok so you’ll need a doctor to perform MDMA. Where are those doctors? What clinic do I go to? Long way to go.

Exercise. Even when you don't feel like it. Get out and walk for an hour. Something.

And find someone else that needs help. Spend time on others and it can help break through the fog.

Yep. Here's 2 such organizations:

VETS

Heroic Hearts

I believe VETS focuses on ibogaine treatment, which is truly for last-resort hard cases. I would not recommend that for the people in this thread that are asking.

The latter focuses on ayahuasca, which could be useful for some. I still think psilocybin is the best place to start.

I'm hoping the path forward for all of these substances will not be over-medicalized and will include other modalities of administration.

Here's the latest on MDMA

You can also see if you are eligible to sign up for a study.

I lost my job from depression.

I am trying to overcome it with a new job and a new city, but I am still the same. I’m making the same patterns of mistakes which will likely cost me this job too if I cannot overcome this depression.

Psilocybin, friend. You should consider it.

I opened up to a few close friends about it, got off adderall, moved to a new city, got a new job - those all helped but I think the best thing to do is be open about it and let others know you’re struggling.

I have a bad history of depression, but have been stable for about 3 years now. For me, my career at the time got me down. I felt trapped, and thought that was all I was going to do my entire life. I tried multiple meds, exercise regiments, eating cleaner, etc...
The only way I was able to turn it around was I switched careers. I damn near quit early on, just because it was so new to me and I felt so hopeless. Just stuck it out. Once my career was stable, everything else just fell into place.

Now I don't know what that says about me, to only find stability when I have a job that I generally like.

Also I've learned to accept myself, flaws and all. I recognize my quirks and have learned to just laugh about it. Self deprecating humor is my go to.

All that to say, everyone is different. Meds may help some people; never did anything for me though. You just have to get to the root of your unhappiness. Much easier said than done, especially when everything feels hopeless.

I don’t know if you’ve ever tried it, but I went through Christian counseling a few years ago. We’d relocated and I was in a lot of pain. We have a benefit at work where we can seek counseling, so I took advantage of it. The social worker never mentioned religion unless I brought it up, but it really helped me to be able to incorporate my faith. As far as I know his practice wasn’t affiliated with a church-it was not pastoral counseling. It really helped me.

I’m right there with you man. I’m considering taking a 6 month sabbatical to try and figure things out and work on myself before I lose this job.

Actually thinking I might need a complete career change.

That’s terrible and I’m sorry to hear this. We’ve all kinda grown up hearing your experiences in appliance repair stories the last 15 years. Sucks to hear everything is crumbling for you. You’ll be glad you moved out of Louisiana once you do. It’s a great view to be on the other side of the state line. It’s just different and optimistic. It’s better. I moved to Texas a year ago and I’m never calling Louisiana home again. Ever.

I burned my life to the ground in 2016 and had to start from absolutely nothing at 40 years old. You can do this, man. You’ll surprise yourself but you have to stay focused on the future.

Do you remember all those years ago when I bought Saints tickets from you?
