Have any of y’all had a crown on your front teeth? Trying to decide between that and an implant but don’t want to go through the implant process.

I got one b/c I had a chipped front tooth. It wasn't bad process at all and has lasted for years. With insurance it was about $800.
I don't even want to know what implant would have cost.

Why would you want an implant when the root is good on your existing tooth?

Just make sure they match up the shade of your teeth properly.... or else it'll look like Indian corn when you smile

I had five put in after a dirt bike accident when I was 20, was not wearing a helmet like a jackass, and that handlebar will mess your shite up.

After about eight years they started to discolour a bit compared to my regular teeth. I got the cheapest possible at the time.

Replaced them with better ones and you would never know I had them. No issues at all. Been five years since replacing and perfectly match. Hoping to not have to do it again for a long time.

I was under the impression that you had to have a tooth to start with in order to get a crown. Are you sure you are not talking about a bridge?

Congenitally missing tooth?
Best option is an implant. Other wise you are talking about a bridge, Maryland bridge, cantilever jointed crown/bridge, or partial. All of which will compromise another tooth. Just a crown is not an option.

Had my front four on top crowned 20 years ago. Never had a problem until recently. Developed a cavity under one that I’m about to learn if it can be saved or if I’ll need an implant.

Implant better than any option cause as mentioned a bridge comprises other teeth around the missing tooth to fill the gap and a crown will eventually have issues don’t care if the root is good at the time or not.
Put it like this after an implant they will dig you up in 1000 years and only the implant will be in your coffin.
More expensive but much better option for the long haul.

How fricking negligent of Superior Grill to have forks so dangerous for public use. You should’ve gotten Gordon and made Superior Grill give you a superior grill.

Yea congenital. I was told I need a major bone graft. They told me It was going to be a year long process to get the implant done and I don’t feel like dealing with that. I’d prefer the cantilever bridge option to get it over with.

In patients that are high esthetic risk, high lip line, congenitally missing incisors are very difficult to treat. To make matters worse, the ridge is usually narrow, making bone graft necessary.

What do you have replacing the tooth currently?

Fiancee (DMD, Ph.D., Prosth) says the cantilever bridge isn't the best option (depending on the teeth involved), if it goes wrong there isn't much going back.

With all that education, I'm surprised that she would offer advice without proper records.

Pic to see what level of incredulity I should exhibit. Thanks.
