Denise Marcelle at it again - Sterling case won’t go away

It seems Denise wants to make it a law that every time a police officer uses lethal force the DA is required to take the case to a Grand Jury.
Slight problem though. Doing that would be straight up unconstitutional. I love how the paper calls it “significant pushback” when the other committee members basically told her to shut up and sit down. Ultimate charging power resides solely with the DA and you can’t legislate around that. So, as a typical move, she will form a Task Force to investigate. fricking idiot.

Marcelle had initially filed House Bill 843 to require that all cases of an on-duty law enforcement officer causing serious bodily injury or death of another person go to a grand jury that would decide whether or not the officer or officers involved should be indicted, rather than leaving it to the discretion of prosecutors.

Honestly, I have no problem with such a law.
I have no problem with some civilian oversight like a grand jury in ever case where an officer uses deadly force.

At least there's still some common sense left.

She's part of the new BR leadership. And people wonder why St. George is at it again.

And, as is par for the course in instances where a “task force” is formed, nothing will happen.
BUT, to her idiot constituents, it’ll look like she’s actually trying to do something constructive.

. She looks like mush mouth off the fat Albert cartoon Posted on 4/13/18 at 8:53 am to jbgleason
These people are opportunists. All they want is to have their name out there so they get recognized in public, and have a chance for higher office because they know that people vote based on familiarity with a name.
She's a narcissist just like all politicians

There are not enough facepalms...

Another black female LA politician from BR calling for more task forces to seek recommendations. What a fricking shocker
Is this all they know how to do? Try to legislate local issues from the capitol and form committees?

If they’re in the mayor’s office, they have meetings. A lot of meetings. Catered meetings.

Because it's just not possible that stupid mother frickers have no respect for law enforcement and would never threaten one in the course of an already stressful and adrenaline-pumping situation.

"It's disheartening that we are even having this conversation – in my opinion it should have gone to the grand jury," Marcelle said.
Trial goes to grand jury. Result: not guilty or hung jury. Response: We will never stop seeking "justice."

Thought that was protocol anyway
