Because it's just not possible that stupid mother frickers have no respect for law enforcement and would never threaten one in the course of an already stressful and adrenaline-pumping situation.
These people want the cops to hold court out on the street while confronting criminals with guns in their hands. The bad part is that all these idiots like Denise are doing is further magnifying the Ferguson Effect which does nothing more that cause more black bodies to assume room temperature. Like it has been said before, if the cops wanted more black people dead, they'd just stop patrolling their neighborhoods.

I’m not against St. G but this line gets thrown around as if the mere incorporation changes the structure of the Metro Council, or in this case...the State Legislature.

I find it hilarious that folks like Denise go running to the highest power they can find to get their way then yell and stomp their feet about making their own decisions about local issues.

They must not have covered that section of the constitution during her semester at Southern law school.

Thought that was protocol anyway
Protocol and legislated requirements are two different things. Most DA’s take the case to Grand Jury as a cover their arse move. When they know the case isn’t going to be indicted. That being said, the law says that the case has to be minimally prosecutable (meaning the elements of a crime exist) before they refer to Grand Jury. In the Sterling case, the AG stated that the minimal elements didn’t exist and that is why he didn’t refer the case. But the politicians didn’t want to hear that and thus they ignored it.
The real problem with this whole thing from day one is that the one side is holding press conferences and saying all kinds of false shite and the other side isn’t saying anything at all out of fear that they will be seen as “racist”. The BLM / Progressive crowd has done a great job of silencing dissent through threats of labeling anyone that speaks up against them. In this case, the fact that what she proposed is outright unconstitutional is the only thing that shite her down.

I have no problem with some civilian oversight like a grand jury in ever case where an officer uses deadly force.

It's a perfect example of why they can't run any sort of government without completely fricking it up. They don't give a shite about the rules or the law, but rather think that since they're in power, they can do whatever they want. Every decision the make or propose is to satisfy an immediate demand with no thought of constitutionality or future effects.

They simply have a complete lack of enlightenment. There's never a sense of "how do we help ourselves improve". It's always "let's get 'x' to fix this for us".

This sums up Baton Rouge's current city leadership in a nutshell. As soon as Broome took office, it became all about "getting what's theirs." If Alton Sterling had been a white man that was shot and killed by a black cop, do you think Marcelle would still be advocating for a grand jury review?

Well, unfortunately many of them feel the need to "keep it real" because they know if they don't, they'll be ostracized. You saw how they called Kip an uncle Tom and house n**** when he didn't toe the "keepin it real" line. The very mentality that they view as "essential" to their survival is what ensures that they will remain in the same state forever.
