Almost looked ... anecdotally from footage that the surge was as much as feared with Laura ... without being discussed much

Talked to a friend earlier. They got lots of wind and mayor said power out for a few days.

The surge projections confirmed with Laura, just not in Lake Charles (thankfully). Just east of the landfall point you got 17'.

Moss Bluff, Lake Charles down HWY 14, and Gauthier rd all look basically the same as 3 days ago. I hear Iowa and up 165 took the teeth

Just got power back about ten minutes ago. Kudos to Slemco. I was prepared for a much longer wait. Hope it holds...

Delta had a chance to be a legit surge producer. It was a weakening formerly major hurricane with a broad windfield that kept growing from the time it formed to landfall. That verified with all the reports of wind damage across the state. I also thought the surge threat was under-reported to an extent. That much wind for that long of a period moves a whole lot of water, and it doesn't have to be 130mph winds to do it.

Power back at my Dad's house in Lafayette off pinhook just before you get into Broussard. Still waiting for my power to come back in Youngsville.

Anyone driven I-10 from Texas border to Lafayette today? I need to drive through Louisiana tomorrow. Just wondering if I-10 is passable or if I-20 needs to be my route
