unfortunate, but blame the news station. The NHC clearly has that point marked as a 45 mph. Go to the NHC website, or for that matter check any other reliable news outlet and you’ll see.

Yeah, people are taking 3-4 hours to get to Vinton. Screw that. 10 pm and 4am runs and then make the call

I’m just banking on this thing somewhat weaken before landfall. Is that still what’s expected?

yes... it should start getting sheared sometime late tonight or in the morning

plus colder water

Looking at all the satellite loops, it looks like it rotated the clouds of that good burst into the eye.

all of a sudden there's 2 planes showing inside the storm right now

1 on the periphery... other diving towards the eye from the north

I saw earlier that a NOAA plane was on the way and there was going to be some overlap. They had 2 in it earlier today. They were close enough to wave at each other.

It still could be a 3 at landfall though depending how much it strengthens tonight.
