12z GFS is like 5 miles west of the 6z, which was like 15-20 miles east of the 0z.
Biggest change here is slightly slower to the coast with landfall around 8PM. Good news for LC, as with most of the recent GFS runs, is that the NW and W eyewall is expected to be much weaker than the NE and E eyewall. Remember that you add and subtract forward speed to winds on the opposite sides of the storm.

but I thought the slowdown was expected when it turned north and then it would pick up speed again like a freight train

It was. This run is just a little slower still.
All of these changes are pretty normal for models but amplified tremendously for humans.
