Zulu time. Military/navigational speak for Greenwich Mean Time. 18z=1800 hrs GMT=1:00pm CDT

The way Deltas track curves, it is currently forecasted to be 35 miles closer to BR than Laura. NHC track is west of GFS model which is showing 60-65mph gusts in BR.

Well of course if Delta ends up coming in further east than expected then yea, Baton Rouge will get more from it. I'm just more of a believe it when I see it kind of guy.

Rds, are there any updated maps or projections of the front coming from Texas?

rds or Duke. These damn things always seem to hit at night. Is there a reason for that? Surely that can’t be coincidence can it?

I would be more worried about sustained winds at 60-65mph for like 5-6 hours....

Whoa. I hadn't looked at the IR loop in a while. Looks like it may be fairly tight once it does clear.

No way you really believe that's going to happen in Baton Rouge.

Using the "33% chance it misses the cone" to scare folks in New Orleans/Baton Rouge into thinking there's still a 33% chance it hits them is a misuse of that statistic.

This. Any using the qualifier of “well the storm ended up inside the original cone” when the original cone stretched from Beaumont to Mobile isn’t exactly what I’d call an accuracy worth hanging your hat on. It’s pointless. I’d rather see them put a cone up to the point the models deviate significantly until it gets into the gulf. Spinning everyone up in Mobile for a storm that’s going to make landfall 8 days later at the TX/LA border isn’t doing anyone any favors.

Anywhere.... 5-6 straight hours of 65mph winds is gonna screw shite up.... but unless this thing takes a sharp eastern turn by tomorrow afternoon I don’t think BR has anything to worry about.

Where are you seeing this?

Also, the lawyers won’t let them run busses in tropical storm winds. So if there is a chance of TS winds before the end of the school day they close. I can’t imagine any school west of Gonzales will be open tomorrow.

Not this stupid shite again. BR has a chance for Tropical Storm forced winds starting at 8am.
