In LC, same here. Projected into Vermillion Bay tomorrow morning, I am staying. Anything west, I'm out. Can't take the risk with small kids who hate bad weather. If I waste a night or two of hotel fees and Lake Charles is unscathed, I'm not going to complain.

Cypress love wet ground. I would say it will fair better than most other species

Alright everybody, we can shut the thread down...nothing to be worried about.

I’d be cautious but feeling optimistic in SWLA, despite the euro. Obviously want a miss altogether, but the bigger western shifts have stopped.
Models have basically been bouncing around Vermilion Parish for a day or so now. Ideally you’d want the Euro there too, but it’s been a western outlier all year.
Eta- in other news, I probably won’t be posting for the rest of October unless I’m saved by a Marsh Island landfall. Good news for my residence though.

Kind of where we’re at too. I’m getting tired of moving breastmilk.

I wonder if the euro borrows any information from the radar station west of LC since the radar station in town is still jacked up.
Giving it a more western lean.

How big of a fricking Miss is this by the NHC? If I’m the Yucatán, I would be pissed off big time. I mean, look at the time markers for 2am and 4am Wednesday morning. Jesus NHC, get your shite together.

Does anyone know the worst location of a tree relative to the house? I got a giant water oak and a willow oak east of the back of the house.
its all relative to the wind direction. storm will blow counter closkwise around the eye. if you are northeast of the storm, you will get winds out of the SE, then south once eye is due west of you, then once northwest of you get winds out of the southwest.
with your tree east of the house, you need to look out for wind coning out of the east. a storm landing near due south out you would mean you get east winds until the eye get to you then west winds after it passes

Gamma pulled that closer in I believe

What’s the latest time I should leave BR? Should I even be evacuating BR?
Posted on 10/7/20 at 8:20 am to jac1280
I believe it was due to the fact the initial center of Delta was found to have formed to the SW. Hard to predict a track on something that was barely even formed at the time

slack is the NHC storm surge chart available already or are they waiting for this thing to get closer?? Im not seeing one on the website
I think they wait until warnings are out. Should get warnings at the 10am update.

Slack you think the models are pretty accurate this morning, or will we see more wobbling?
It looks to my untrained eye like we're seeing some consensus on the landfall now.

damn that's pretty bad miss.. can't wait to see how @slackster spins this one

I dont think you have to evac BR. I have never done that but that is your choice.
I just hope we dont have it as bad as gustav. That shite sucked. gas, ice, grocery stores were nightmares and not having power for a week was terrible

Is this thing even a hurricane right now? The fast windspeed found by hunters is 69mph.

Maybe they should follow the Mexican hurricane center instead

frick the euro
They updated it before the season to supposedly improve performance in the tropics by making the pressure to wind relationship more realistic. However, it has been pretty bad at times this season and, if it holds to the seasonal trend, might start adjusting back east over the next few runs.

I bet! We are in Prairieville with a 6-week old and if we lose power the freezer is getting power before the window unit specifically for the breast milk. Mrs Ford would have a meltdown if we lost it
